PENFIELD — DuBois-based state police are seeking information that may lead to the identity of a man found dead along state Route 153 near Penfield on Friday.
According to Clearfield County Coroner Mike Morris, the male was discovered by a passer-by along the highway located between state Route 219 and the community of Penfield in Huston Township, about a half-mile from the Elk County line.
“I was notified around 12:15 p.m.,” Morris said in a telephone interview when asked when the male’s body was discovered.
Morris said the man is believed to be in his early 30s and was found over a guard rail.
“My preliminary guess is that he died somewhere between midnight and 6 a.m. on Friday,” Morris said. “An autopsy is scheduled Sunday in State College and we’ll hopefully know more at that time.”
Anyone with information that may lead to the man’s identity or circumstances surrounding the death are asked to call Dubois-based state police at 371-4652.
