PATTON (TNS) – The historic miniature train at Patton Recreation Park will keep chugging along thanks to $1,500 in track upgrades.
Mark Stephens, president of the nonprofit Friends of Patton Park, presented the donation to Mayor Jonathan Welchko during Tuesday’s Borough Council meeting.
Stephens came to Tuesday’s meeting with his fiancee, Casey Pasternak, who assisted with the grant writing.
Funds included a $1,000 grant from Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, another $300 from a private donor and $200 from the Friends of Patton Park general fund, Stephens said.
On summer days, the train carries visitors through the pastoral location, circling a tennis court and other features.
The park also includes a swimming pool, playground area and picnic pavilions.
