MORRISDALE — Marie A. Tarbay, 92, of Morrisdale, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Windy Hill Village of Presbyterian Homes, Philipsburg.

Born Aug. 11, 1926 in Hawk Run, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara (Rusnak) Vavreck.

In 1959 at Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church in Hawk Run, she married John E. Tarbay, who preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1979.

Surviving are her children, John E. Tarbay and wife Silva of Houtzdale, and Paul T. Tarbay and wife Patricia of Morrisdale; five grandchildren, Joni Turner and husband Trevor of Little River, S.C., John Tarbay and wife Ashley of Houtzdale, James Tarbay and fiancée Stephanie Errigo of Clearfield, Jeremy Tarbay and wife Kristen of Somerset, and Jennifer Tarbay of Philipsburg; five great-grandchildren, Kendyn and Macee Turner, Jacob and Lucas Tarbay, Taylor Tarbay, and a future great-grandson, Logan Tarbay; her siblings, Martin Vavreck and wife Joanne of Westerville, Ohio; Ben Vavreck of Hawk Run; Bernadette Johnson of Houtzdale; Sister Barbara Ann (Frances) of Vavreck, Erie.

Marie was a member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale where she was a member of the Rosary Society and a member of the Jednota Lodge. She was a loving wife and mother, and had worked at the former Morning Star Bakery, Philipsburg then at the former A&P Grocery Store, Philipsburg, both for numerous years. She also was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, infant Annie Vavreck, Josephine Vavreck, Elizabeth (Betty) Kushner, Barbara Sedlak and Agnes Kolosky; and her brothers, Andrew and Joseph Vavreck.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale. Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale with the Rev. Fr. Robert J. Horgas as celebrant.

She will be laid to rest at Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hawk Run.
