MADERA — Blain T. Barrett, 82, of Madera, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born Feb. 12, 1936 in Kerrmoor, rural Curwensville, he was a son of the late Lewis and Vera (Oaks) Barrett.

Blain was a member of the Glendale Valley Spirit and Truth Fellowship Church in Irvona.

He served with the United States Air Force and the National Guard.

Blain was employed as a machinist for General Electric in Erie and F.L. Smith of Duncansville.

He owned and operated Mo Valley Sanitation for 20 years.

Blain enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing baseball, driving stock cars, playing board games with his grandchildren, and camping with family and friends.

On Jan. 28, 1956 in Erie, he married Theresa (Watson) Barrett, who survives at home.

Along with his wife he is survived by a daughter, Connie (Randy) Krause of Chester Hill; two sons, Randy (Julie) Barrett of Erie and Robert Barrett and his companion Alysia Strouse of Madera. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Tiffany (Travis) Beres of Philipsburg, Eric (Deanna) Krause of Denver, Colo., Ashley (Matt) Stiner, Amy Cash, Erin (Ryan) Henry, all of Erie and Brynlee Strouse of Madera; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dean Barrett of La Jose.

Blain was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and six sisters.

Funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home inc., Houtzdale with Pastor Chris Golembiowski officiating.

Family and friends will be received at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m.

Interment will be at La Jose Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Blain’s memory to Glendale Valley Spirit and Truth Fellowship Church, 1943 Dorsey Ave., Irvona, PA 16656.
