WESTOVER — Harmony Area School Board provided an update on the search for a district superintendent.

At Tuesday’s rescheduled meeting, President Nancy Oaks reported a second round of candidate interviews is being conducted by the personnel committee next week. That committee consists of Oaks and Directors Kathleen Cowden, Susan Gallaher and Betty Kunsman. They were appointed by the board in February to lead the search to hire a new superintendent.

The board has been without a permanent superintendent since Stuart Albaugh abruptly tendered his resignation in early October, just two months shy of his one-year anniversary in the position.

Dr. Norman Hatten of Curwensville has been serving as interim superintendent since he was hired Oct. 31 to work two to three days per week at a cost of $500 per day plus mileage.

The board has released no details on a timeline to complete the search and hire a new superintendent.
