State Police at Clearfield

On March 5 at 8:05 a.m., two students at the Philipsburg-Osceola Area Middle School got into a physical altercation resulting in minor injury. Both students were charged with summary offenses. The outcome of the charges will be decided by District Court 46-3-03.

Race Street Brew Works of Clearfield was issued a Citation on March 8 for manufacturing and selling alcoholic beverages after their brewery license had expired on Dec. 31 2018 and had not been renewed or validated. These charges will be brought before an Administrative Law Judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50-$1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, The ALJ can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license and mandate training for the licensee in an effort to educate them on the requirements of being a licensee.

Lawrence Township

On March 6 at 9:45 p.m., police were notified by members of the Clearfield County Jail that they located a small amount of marijuana on a male identified as Casey Eddy. The marijuana was located inside of his sock. Charges to be filed.

On March 4 at 11:15 a.m., police received a surveillance video from the Hyde Uni-Mart where it shows a female taking numerous items, putting them in her purse, and leaving the store without paying for them. The manger of Uni-Mart was able to identify the female as Candace Gillingham, 29. Charges to be filed.

On March 8 at 7:30 a.m., police received a report that a female was passed out at the wheel with her engine running. The female was identified as Cassidy L. Bowman, 24, of Clearfield. Upon contact with Bowman, it was determined that she was under the influence of a drug. She was arrested and taken to Penn Highlands Clearfield for a blood test. This investigation is pending lab results.

State Police at Ridgway

On March 7 at 12:10 p.m., PSP responded to a crash on SR 255 on Bennetts Valley Highway in Jay Township, Elk County. This crash occurred as a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Paul D. Leonard, 82, of Weedville, was turning left onto SR 255 from Chestnut Ave. A 2009 Saturn Outlook driven by Nicholas J. Botera, 70, of Emporium, was traveling North on SR 255. Leonard failed to observe Botera’s vehicle and struck the drivers side door area with the front right of his vehicle. Botera was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois by Bennetts Valley Ambulance with injuries of unknown severity. Leonard was cited for stop signs and yield Signs (duties at stop signs) at District Court 59-3-03.
