Lawrence Township

Police received a report of a suspicious male at Mountain Laurel Nursing Home on March 13 at 11:04 p.m. The male was to have picked up his wife earlier in the day when she was discharged but, at the time of the call, was outside the nursing home with luggage banging on the windows. He was last seen at the intersection of Leonard Street and Daisy Street. Officers made contact with the male near Golden Rod Storage. Upon identifying him as Robert Slayer, he was found to be wanted for a parole violation in North Carolina. He was taken into custody and housed in the Clearfield County Jail to await extradition.

Police responded to a Woodland Road residence for a report of a possible break in. The victims, a 33-year-old male and 19-year-old female, both of Clearfield, reported that they had returned home to find both front and back doors open with interior lights turned on. The exterior lights were turned off and an item from inside the residence had been placed outside. No property was taken or damaged. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lawrence Township Police.

Police were called to the Edgewood Apartments on March 13 for a disturbance outside apartment B9. Jaya Reed, 20, of Madera, and Justin Grassmyer, 22, of Clearfield, engaged in a verbal argument outside the apartment, yelling and screaming, causing a disturbance. Grassmyer was taken into custody of a Sheriff’s Warrant and transported to the Clearfield County Jail. Both Reed and Grassmyer were cited for Disorderly Conduct.

State Police at Punxsy

PSP Fire Marshal and Mahaffey Fire Department investigated a structure fire on March 13 at 7 a.m. at a single-family home located on Wrights Lane in Burnside Township, Clearfield County. Upon completion of the investigation it was determined that the fire was accidental and electrical in nature due to an overloaded circuit. The estimated damage totals at approximately $50,000. There were no injuries and the homeowners did not have insurance. One dog died in the fire.

State Police at Rockview

PSP responded to a crash on March 10 at 2:11 p.m. in Potter Township, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 2013 Nissan Rogue driven by Randy L. Kenjora, 67, of Philipsburg, and a 2016 Subaru Corss Trec driven by Emily N. Sheaffer, 36, of Milroy, were both traveling west in the left lane of SR 322. Sheaffer was in front of Kenjora. Sheaffer slowed as traffic in front did and was struck in the rear by Kenjora, who did not slow down. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage.

On March 12 at 8:06 a.m., PSP responded to a crash in Patton Township, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 2009 Mazda 5, driven by Jennifer L. Lehman, 25, of Bellefonte, was traveling south on I-99 and took the Gray’s Woods Exit. Lehman lost control of the vehicle and slide off the left side of the exit ramp, crossed a grass divide, crossed both I-99 southbound lands and then impacted a concrete divider on the left shoulder of I-99. No injuries were reported.

On March 5 at approximately 3:59 p.m., PSP responded to a crash on Tussey Sink Rd., Potter Township, Centre County. Police discovered a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 driven by Eugene F. Goldsmith, 73, of Centre Hall, off of the right side of the roadway. Goldsmith struck a tree stump and went through a fence coming to a final rest in a farm field. Goldsmith sustained disabling damage. The front airbags were deployed in the vehicle and no driver was located at the crash scene.

PSP responded to a crash on March 5 at 2:41 p.m. in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 2004 Toyota Scion XC driven by Scott A. Kessler, 21, of Houtzdale, was traveling west on East Presquisle Street when Kessler traveled toward the northern shoulder of the roadway. The front passenger-side tire impacted a curb. Kessler then traveled into the oncoming travel lane and came to a controlled final rest.

On Feb. 12 at 8:29 p.m., PSP responded to a crash in Boggs Township, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 1999 International Harvester Truck driven by Dejan Stankovic, 36, of Lyons, Ill., was traveling south on SR 144. Stankovic attempted to negotiate a right hand curve and slid straight through the curve on the snow. Stankovic then struck and continued through the guiderail, traveling off the embankment and impacting a tree. The vehicle came to a final rest against the tree, hanging off the embankment. Stankovic was uninjured and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

PSP responded to a crash on March 3 at 3:39 p.m. in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 2005 Toyota Prius was traveling east on E. Spruce St. and stopped at its intersection of N. 9th St. A 2015 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on N. 9th Street when the Toyota proceeded from its stopped position and impacted the driver side of the Chevrolet. Both vehicles then came to a controlled final rest along Spruce St. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. The driver of the Toyota was cited for violating stop signs and yield Signs.

On March 6 at 12:20 p.m., PSP responded to a crash in Benner Township, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 2008 Kia Rio was traveling north on Benner Pike on the one-way section near the entrance and exit ramps of I-99. A 2009 Kia Spectra was traveling south in the wrong direction on the one-way when the driver-side mirror of the Kia Spectra impacted the driver-side mirror of the Kia Rio. Both vehicles then came to a controlled final rest along Benner Pike. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

PSP responded to a crash on March 10 at 12:44 p.m. in Marion Township, Centre County. A 2011 Kia Sorento was traveling west on I-80 when it pulled onto the shoulder of the roadway. Once on the shoulder, the vehicle began to back along the shoulder of the interstate. The vehicle then crossed back into the right lane of traffic before backing entirely off the roadway and onto the right-hand grass area. The vehicle became stuck in the grass area and sustained minor damage.

On Feb. 22 at 7:51 p.m. on I-99 north in Worth Township, Centre County, a traffic stop was conducted on Bryce Hockenberry, 24, of Snow Shoe, for a traffic violation. Investigation revealed that Hockenberry was in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Charges were filed through the District Court.
