Police received a report on Feb. 19 of a retail theft at the Family Dollar Store on South 2nd Street. Officers made contact with the suspect, Ryan Altmeyer, 35, and found that he had removed merchandise displayed at the Family Dollar Store and then exited the store. Altmeyer was arrested for summary retail theft.

State Police at Ridgway

PSP responded to a crash on March 13 at 1:47 p.m. in Jones Township, Elk County. This crash occurred as a 2013 Ford Fiesta driven by James Ball, 82, of DuBois, was traveling south on SR 219. Ball fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle exited the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch where the vehicle came to rest. Ball sustained injuries of unknown severity and was transported to Penn Highlands Elk via Wilcox Vol. Fire. A citation was filed on Ball for VC 3714, Careless Driving, in District Court 59-3-02. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

State Police at Rockview

PSP responded to a crash on March 11 at 4:57 p.m. in Benner Township, Centre County. This crash occurred while a 2005 Ford Explorer driven by Michelle A. Eshelman, 45, of Bellefonte, was traveling north on W. College Avenue. Eshelman then traveled off of the west side of the roadway, down an embankment, striking trees and shrubbery. Eshelman was not injured in the crash, however, the vehicle suffered disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

PSP are investigating a harassment incident. The victim is a 16-year-old male of Howard. The investigation is ongoing and little detail can be released at this time.

On March 5 at 2:41 p.m., police reported a crash that occurred in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 2004 Toyota Scion XC driven by Scott A. Kessler, 21, of Houtzdale, was traveling west on Presquisle Street. Kessler then proceeded to travel toward the northern shoulder of the roadway as the front passenger-side tire impacted a curb. After the impact, Kessler traveled into the oncoming travel lane and came to a controlled final rest.

On Jan. 30, PSP responded to Mill Street in Milesburg Boro, Centre County to investigate a complaint of theft. The victim, Uni-Mart of Milesburg, related that the accused, Kevin Maney, 30, of Julian, used counterfeit currency to pay for goods.

PSP responded to a crash that occurred on the Port Matilda Highway in Rush Township, Centre County. This two-vehicle crash involved a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jessica A. Geer, 42, of Reynoldsville with a 6-year-old male passenger. A 2018 Ford Edge was driven by Jamie L. Dixon, 39, of Frenchville. Geer and her passenger were transported to a medical facility by Hope Ambulance Group, both with suspected minor injuries. Dixon was transported by Moshannon Valley EMS with suspected minor injuries. Geer was charged with overtaking vehicle on left.

On March 10, PSP responded to the Meadows in regard to an assault. Upon arrival it was determined that a 12-year-old male of Penbrook and a 16-year-old male of Picture Rocks assaulted a 17-year-old male of Dillsburg. All parties were patients at the Meadows. Harassment citations were issued.

On Feb. 22, PSP conducted a traffic stop in regard to drug possession on I99 northbound in Worth Township, Centre County. The offender, driving a black Kia Sol SUV, was speeding and was found to be in possession of marijuana.

PSP responded to a crash on March 10 at 5 a.m. in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 2003 Suzuki XL7 was backing up on Laurel Street and struck a legally parked, unoccupied 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt located on the left hand side of the street. The Suzuki suffered minor damage and the Chevrolet suffered moderate damage. The driver of the Suzuki eft his name and contact information underneath windshield wiper of the Chevrolet. Both cars were drivable and the crash resulted in no injuries.

PSP responded to a crash on March 10 at 8:39 p.m. that occurred in Spring Township, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 2017 Toyota Sienna was traveling south on SR 144, Pleasant Valley Boulevard near its intersection with Allegheny Street. A 2012 Ford Escape was traveling directly in front of the Toyota in a two lane roadway with one lane of traffic in each direction. The Toyota attempted to pass the Ford as it slowed and was turning left onto N. Allegheny Street. There was minor damage to the passenger side of the Toyota and minor damage to the front driver side of the Ford. There were no injuries or towing. The driver of the Toyota was cited for passing on the left.

On March 8 at 8:22 a.m., PSP responded to a crash in Union Township, Centre County. This crash occurred as a 2002 Dodge Durango driven by Beverly M. King, 34, of Milesburg, was traveling south on S. Eagle Vally Rd. While traveling south, King failed to see a vehicle slowing down in front of her to turn into a private driveway. When King saw the vehicle, she attempted to slow down. While attempting to slow down, she lost control of her vehicle, sliding off the roadway and overturning. King was not injured in the crash. The vehicle suffered disabling damage and was towed from the scene. King will be charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic.

PSP investigated a natural death on March 3 at SCI Rockview. Through the investigation it was determined that the inmate died after going into cardiac arrest. The investigation is ongoing.

On Feb. 25, an unknown suspect attempted to obtain a firearm and was denied. The investigation is ongoing.

On various dates ranging from Jan. to Feb., a 37-year-old female of Philipsburg stole cash out of the Dollar General cash register as she was working. Charges pending.

On March 8 at 5:01 p.m. on Front Street in Rush Township, Centre County, PSP were contacted regarding found pills. The owner was unable to be identified.

On Feb. 27 at 12:27 p.m., Jessica Taylor, 30, of Beech Creek, was found to be in possession of THC wax and related paraphernalia. Charges were filed through District Court 49-3-02.

On March 7 at 4 p.m., Amber Andrus, 43, of Aaronsburg, was observed acting confused and disoriented while she entered Sheetz in Centre Hall. Andrus returned to her vehicle where she remained until PSP arrived to the scene. Andrus displayed indicators of impairment and field sobriety tests were conducted. Andrus was taken into custody and DUI charges are pending through MDJ 49-3-04.
