Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw, Jr. announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of July 1.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Melissa Reitz, 46, of Egypt Road, Brockway.
Shaw stated that Reitz is wanted for failure to appear at a hearing regarding the Commonwealth’s motion to revoke bail on June 25, at which time a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On Jan. 8, 2018, Corporal Matthew Robertson of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint charging Reitz with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, F; dealing in proceeds of an unlawful activity, F1; simple possession, M; paraphernalia, M; retail theft, S; and receiving stolen property, M3.
An criminal complaint filed by the police state that on Jan. 7, 2018, officers were dispatched to a local business for the report of a retail theft. When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the suspect, identified as Reitz. At that time, Retiz began to remove stolen merchandise from her purse. A search of the purse produced a bag of a white crystalized substance. Reitz was then transported to the DuBois City Police Department. A more thorough search of the purse produced 155 grams of methamphetamine packaged in 5 separate bags, a digital scale, numerous plastic baggies, more than $7,000 in US currency, and an envelope containing two names, dollar amounts, and the word “owes.”
On Jan. 12, 2018, a preliminary hearing was held and all charges were held to court. On June 25, 2019, Reitz failed to appear for a hearing regarding the Commonwealth’s motion to revoke bail and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
