Robert Ivan Brewer Jr., 44, of Olanta, who is accused of bringing methamphetamine into the Clearfield County Jail, waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge J. Michael Morris yesterday at Centralized Court held at the jail.
According to the affidavit of probable cause on Jan. 26, Brewer, who was an inmate at the jail, was strip searched prior to taking a shower when a small baggie containing suspected methamphetamine was found in his waistband.
Prison staff asked him if it was methamphetamine and Brewer replied that it was and asked if they could get rid of it.
The substance was field tested by Lawrence Township police and it came up positive for methamphetamine.
Brewer is charged with possession of controlled substance-contraband-inmate, a 2nd degree felony and intentional possession of a controlled substance, an ungraded misdemeanor.
He is incarcerated in the CCJ in lieu of $50,000 monetary bail.
