Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority approved doubling its advertising budget with visitPA, the state’s official tourism website.
At Wednesday’s meeting, members approved advertising for the 2020 Happy Traveler, the travel planning magazine produced by visitPA.
Director Josiah Jones requested permission to increase the size of Clearfield County’s ad from one to two pages, saying he believed a photo spread with information would provide a better representation of the area. The cost is $22,260 — about two times what CCRTA paid last year.
Included in the cost is custom trip planning for Clearfield County on visitPA’s website and a feature about Clearfield County in its electronic newsletter which is distributed to thousands of subscribers Jones said.
Jones said he believes the additional advertising is important.
“We receive a lot of referrals from visitPA,” he said, adding the new larger advertisement “will give a lot better idea of all that Clearfield County has.”
CCRTA members requested Jones bring the ad content back to the board for final approval before it is submitted to visitPA.
