Friday, July 11, 2014

For the month of May the Clearfield County Solid Waste Authority investigated four new complaints regarding illegal dumping activities in Bradford, Cooper, Girard and Pike townships.
These resulted in two violators removing .21 ton of garbage, one pending and one with insufficient evidence.
Additionally, 49 dumpsites were monitored for activity during the month by the authority's enforcement officer.
For the month of June, CCSWA investigated one new complaint regarding illegal dumping activities in Sandy Township. This resulted in one with insufficient evidence.
Additionally, 98 dumpsites were monitored for activity during the month by the authority's enforcement officer.
Hidden surveillance cameras are routinely rotated among these dumpsites to deter activity. Violators will be prosecuted and face fines of $1,000 per offense.
Placement of trash in county recycling drop off containers is also considered illegal dumping and violators will be prosecuted as such.
For more information on proper disposal practices and recycling opportunities, or to report illegal dumping activities in Clearfield County, call the CCSWA at 765-5149.
