Wilks enters plea on sex charges

Jared Wilks, 22, of Madera, who was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl agreed to plead guilty before the start of his trial, scheduled to begin today before Judge Paul Cherry.
Wilks was charged with a total of 80 counts; 20 counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and indecent assault, and a single count of corruption of minors.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the sexual relationship occurred between July 11 and Nov. 26 of last year.
The victim told police she would regularly sneak out of her house and meet with Wilks. She said she had sexual intercourse with him 20-30 times and said Wilks knew she was only 15 years old.
According to court documents, Wilks entered a negotiated plea agreement with the Clearfield County District Attorney's office on July 3.
Wilks is incarcerated in the CCJ on $50,000 straight.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 26.
Wilks is represented by attorney, Chris Pentz, of the public defenders office.
