Weekend Events is a weekly feature of The Progress published to alert readers about events planned by nonprofit organizations or events that benefit the community. All events are open to the public. The following events are planned this weekend in Progressland.
Susquehanna River Art Center announces a new art exhibit at Clearfield Hospital, first floor. This exhibit features many different subjects and mediums. A donation is made to Clearfield Hospital Auxiliary by the artists when their artwork is sold. Anyone wishing to purchase a painting or photography should contact the artists to make arrangements for purchase. SRAC Art Club membership applications are available at Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, Clearfield. For club information, call 765-5621 or 236-3051.
A fish dinner will be served Friday at Columbia Fire Co. firehall, Osceola Mills. Prices are $10 for adults and $6.50 for children. The dinner includes fried or baked fish, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes and dessert. Eat-in includes a full salad bar and two soups. Deliveries and takeouts are available. Steak or fish dinners will be served Friday from 4-7 p.m. at The Smokehouse, Curwensville. The price is $8.99 per meal, which includes three sides. Proceeds benefit Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. of Curwensville.
An all-you-can-eat fundraiser breakfast will be held Saturday from 7-11 a.m. at Free and Accepted Masons Clearfield Lodge No. 314, located along Clearfield-Woodland Highway between the Army Reserve Center and Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, Clearfield campus. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, eggs cooked to order, fried potatoes, toast, Tang and coffee. Prices are $6 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12. Eat-in or takeouts are available.
An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast featuring Joe's sausage will be held Saturday from 6-11 a.m. in the Curwensville Area High School cafeteria. Meals may be eaten in or taken out.
Tickets are $7 each and are available in advance from any Curwensville Area High School Lady Tide volleyball player. Tickets will also be sold at the door. Proceeds benefit the Lady Tide volleyball program.
Chicken and stuffing ball benefit dinner
A benefit dinner for Joshua Baughman, 10, a fifth-grade student at Clearfield Area Middle School will be held Saturday from 4:40-6:30 p.m. at Clearfield Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second St. He was diagnosed with a rare disease, Moyamoya, which affects the blood vessels on the left side of his brain. In Josh's case both sides of his brain are affected. There is no cure for Moyamoya; the only treatment in Josh's rare case is surgery. The price is $7, takeout only. Drive-through takeouts are down the alley next to Silver Screen Video on Church Street. Watch for Cub Scouts. Proceeds will help with medical expenses.
Country music will be presented at Luthersburg Community Center Saturday. Doors and kitchen will open at 6 p.m. Music will be by Spruce Creek at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Brady Township Park and Recreation Board.
Ramey Volunteer Fire Co. will have a roast beef dinner Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger. The menu includes roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, haluski, baked pineapple, cole slaw, rolls, coffee punch and dessert for eat-in or takeout.
West Decatur Troop No. 43 and Pack No. 43 will hold their annual spaghetti dinner Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, West Decatur. Tickets are $6 for adults $3 for children. Walk-ins are welcome and takeouts are available.
Moshannon Valley High School's junior class is hosting a spaghetti dinner Saturday from 4-7 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children younger than 10. Proceeds benefit the junior class for this year's prom.
Trinity United Methodist Church, 121 S. Front St., Philipsburg, will hold the Philipsburg-Osceola Shoe Bank Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Children may receive a new pair of sneakers for free. They must have an Access or CHIP card, and children must be present to be measured and receive the shoes. Children will receive a new pair of sneakers every six months; those younger than 3 will receive a new pair every three months. Distribution notices are also posted at www.tumc122.org
The shoe bank, which serves children in the Moshannon Valley and Glendale school districts, will be open Saturday from 9-11 a.m. in the Ramey United Methodist Church social room, 411 Main St. (state Route 253), Ramey. Those attending should use the basement entrance at the back of the church. In case of inclement weather, the shoe bank will be closed. Call the church office during snow or ice storms before coming. Children ages 3-18 may visit every six months, and those from birth to age 2 may visit every three months. Children must be present and accompanied by a parent or guardian, and must show their current Access or CHIP card. Gently used shoes are available for everyone. Hyde Fire Co. will hold an auction Sunday at 4 p.m. The kitchen will be open. There will be household items, grocery items, frozen food and much more.
Clearfield B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 540 will have a family breakfast Sunday from 8-10 a.m. at the lodge, 301 N. Second St. The menu includes ham, eggs, home fries, toast, coffee and juice. Price is $5 and the public is welcome. Proceeds benefit Elks charities.
Frenchville Veterans of Foreign Wars Leigey-Renaud Post No. 8386 will serve breakfast Sunday from 8-11 a.m. The menu includes ham and eggs, hash browns, toast, juice and coffee. Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12.
A turkey dinner will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Mountain Top Fire Station in Sandy Ridge. The menu includes turkey, stuffing, potatoes/gravy, vegetable, roll and dessert. Takeouts are available, and the meal is all you can eat when eating in. Prices $8 for adults, $4 for children and free for children 3 and younger.
A paddle party to benefit Susquehanna Community Grange will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Curwensville Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 268. The first paddle is $3 and additional paddles are $1. There will be door prizes, and those attending are asked to bring quarters. Doors open at 2 p.m. There will be new vendors, and the kitchen will be open.
Glen Richey Sportsman's Club will hold a trap shoot Sunday at 2 p.m. The cost is $5 per round.
Hit a white bird and get a round free.

The Progress does not include bingo, club events that are limited to members and guests only, or yard sales or flea markets by private individuals in the Weekend Events section.
