Weekend Events is a weekly feature of The Progress published to alert readers about events planned by nonprofit organizations or events that benefit the community. All events are open to the public. The following events are planned this weekend in Progressland.
Susquehanna River Art Center has an art exhibit on display at Clearfield Hospital, first floor, which can be viewed through Jan. 18. Anyone interested in purchasing a painting or photography should contact the artist to make arrangements. A percentage of sales are donated to Clearfield Hospital Auxiliary by the artists. Membership applications for the art club are available at Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, Clearfield.
Susquehanna River Art Center announces its winter show is on display at Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public library, Clearfield, through Feb. 3. Many paintings are for sale and a percentage of sales are donated to the library by the artist. If interested in purchasing a painting or photography, contact information is listed on a card beside the artwork. SRAC membership applications are available at the library.
Mahaffey Fire Department will hold an auction Friday at 6 p.m. The doors and kitchen will open at 5 p.m. Items to be sold include hats, scarves and all new in-date items. Auctioneer is Deb.

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served Saturday from 7-10 a.m. at Free and Accepted Masons Osceola Mills Lodge No. 515, located at Lingle and Coal streets, Osceola Mills. Prices are $6 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds benefit Cory Ralston for medical expenses.
Children's Christmas party
A children's Christmas party will be held Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Ramey firehall. All children ages 12 and younger are welcome. Rudolph, Little Rudy and Santa will be there.
Curwensville Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 268 will hold a children's Christmas party Saturday from 1-3. Children ages 12 and younger are welcome. For more information, call 236-1150.
The annual Christmas cookie sale sponsored by Curwensville Business and Professional Women will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Goodman's Foodliner. Proceeds will benefit CBPW's special projects. The sale, originally scheduled for Dec. 14, was rescheduled because of inclement weather.
The Sneaker Closet at Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield, will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Children from birth through 18 years can receive a new pair of sneakers, new pair of socks, stuffed animal and a book. There will also be boots, mittens, winter hats and scarves. Children must have their Access medical card, be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and be present to receive sneakers and boots. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled. A Christmas dinner will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ramey fire hall. The menu includes roast turkey, stuffing, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, sides, and pie or cake for dessert. Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 10. Takeouts are available. Proceeds benefit Ramey Fire Co.
Evening of holiday music
Osceola Mills Community Historical Foundation is hosting an evening of holiday music and refreshments Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Osceola Mills Veterans of Foreign Wars Osceola Memorial Post No. 5020 social room. Join the Foundation choir, accompanied by Jamie Rodger and her instrumental group, in singing Christmas carols. Following the song fest, free refreshments will be served.

Late submissions will not be published, nor will submissions that do not include a contact person and daytime telephone number. The Progress does not include bingo, club events that are limited to members and guests only, or yard sales or flea markets by private individuals in the Weekend Events section.
