Main Street Manager resigns
Friday, May 24, 2013
The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. announces the resignation of Main Street Manager Kellie Swales.
The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization administers the Main Street Program in downtown Clearfield, implementing the four points of revitalization which are promotion, design, economic restructuring and organization.
"On behalf of the board of directors of the Clearfield Revitalization Corp., we thank Kellie Swales for her service as Main Street manager and wish her the best in her new position. The CRC looks forward to working with Kellie for a smooth transition, and to continuing our partnership with her new employer," said Dr. Keely Casteel, CRC president.
Swales said, "It has been an absolute honor to work for the CRC the past four years. I am forever thankful for this opportunity, as I had the pleasure of working with passionate, talented individuals in the community and have learned so much about the positive effects of volunteering and making a true difference.
"The people I've worked with are so giving, caring and warm-hearted. I have made many friends along the way and will truly miss working with everyone, but plan to stay in touch through volunteering with the CRC.
"Together, the CRC has made leaps and bounds within Clearfield. I couldn't be more proud of the accomplishments the CRC has made the past four years. Our Main Street Program is a three-time nationally-accredited Main Street Program. We have rallied groups of all ages from Cub Scouts to senior citizens. There is a place for everyone within the CRC.
"Thank you to my board president Dr. Keely Casteel for being my inspiration and leader, and always encouraging. Thank you to my board and committees for all your dedication, we have accomplished so much together. And thank you to our local businesses, institutions and community residents who have supported the Main Street Program. I hope your commitment continues for the future of our Main Street Community of Clearfield."
In the past four years, the Main Street Program has awarded over $110,000.00 to downtown businesses for facade improvement and facilitated major downtown events such as the CRC Fall Festival and 5K Pumpkin Run/Walk, CRC Beautification Day, The "Vera Bradley and What He Wants Badly" event, the Deer Lovely Ladies Tour, Fall in Love with Clearfield and The Taste of the Town Spirit Tour.
The CRC has also hosted merchant workshops and partnered with community groups like the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and surrounding educational institutes. In 2012, the CRC was awarded one of two State Townie Awards for Program-Wide Façade Restoration by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center. The CRC strives to inspire, educate, enable, and empower our community about revitalization.
Swales will still be directing The CRC's "Anything that Floats" Boat Regatta on June 1, and the CRC's summer festival, The Bloom and Berry Bash, on June 22.
Chris Renaud, a recent graduate of Bucknell University, will return this summer to assist the CRC. Renaud has been an intern with CRC the past two summers.
