CRC gears up for holiday events
Tuesday, November 20, 2012
The Clearfield Revitalization Corp.'s Main Street Program has organized an event to kick off the holidays Dec 7. from 5-9 p.m. in downtown Clearfield. Events include Christmas caroling, the Shaw Park Santa House, local artists tour, Taste of the Town Spirit Tour and the musical "Gypsy."
Main Street Manager Kellie Truman-Swales said, "The goal of this event is for downtown Clearfield to become ‘The Night to Discover Clearfield' with shopping, dining and entertainment for everyone. Being that DiscoverClearfield.com is our website, we have incorporated it as a tagline to our organization and focus our events so one can truly ‘discover Clearfield' and create their own special memory in downtown."
To kick off the evening, Santa will be at his house in Shaw Park from 5-7 p.m. The Santa House is located on the corner of Market and Front streets in downtown Clearfield. Kids can tell Santa what they want for Christmas, write a letter for Santa to reply to, or pick up a schedule. The Santa House will remain open the entire time of the event from 5-9 p.m., however, Santa will only be present from 5-7 p.m. The house will be open to pick up a Santa schedule and for event information the rest of the evening.
The CRC welcomes the Christmas carols of the Clearfield Area High School Show Choir under the direction of Andy Rothrock. The choir will start at the Santa House at 5 p.m. and will make its way around town.
The CRC has partnered with the Susquehanna River Arts Center to offer a local artists tour within downtown businesses. The community is welcome to shop these businesses for holiday savings, as most are open late. You do not need to register to participate. Artist tour maps are available at the Santa House from 5-9 p.m.
The CRC's Main Street program will host its Third Annual Taste of the Town Spirit Tour from 5-9 p.m., Dec. 7. They have partnered with local wineries Starr Hill Winery and Bee Kind Winery as each participating business location offers a different sample. Upon registration, one will receive a souvenir glass. Each location along the tour will offer complimentary food and wine samples.
To participate in the event, people must register. Early registration prices for tickets are $15 each through Nov. 30 and include an ID check/wristband, souvenir glass and a map.
Tickets from Dec. 3-7 are $20 each and also include an ID check/wristband, souvenir glass and a walking map.
Tickets are sold at the CRC office Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 125 E. Market Street (Chamber Building).
The CRC and Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre are offering a ticket package for $25 each including one ticket to the Taste of the Town Spirit Tour and one ticket to see Gypsy. Gypsy tickets are also on sale at the CAST located at 112 East Locust Street. Gypsy starts at 7 p.m., Dec. 7.
