Lawrence police take N.Y. man into custody for murder
Tuesday, November 20, 2012
Lawrence Township Police Department yesterday took into custody a possible person of interest from New York accused of homicide. Police arrested Larry N. Frank, 49, of Phoenix, N.Y., at a retail store along state Route 879.
At approximately 5:27 p.m., Lawrence Township police received a phone call from Onondaga County Sheriff's Office in New York advising township officers that it was monitoring movements of a person of interest in a murder investigation through his financial transactions. Onondaga County authorities advised a transaction had just been made at a Lawrence Township retail store.
Police were able to locate Frank's car through a description relayed from New York. They found Frank outside his vehicle and took him into custody without incident. A loaded handgun was found inside his vehicle.
Frank was taken back to Lawrence Township Police Department, where he confessed to murdering a 53-year-old woman from New York.
A warrant for Frank was received from Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, and he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Richard Ireland on a fugitive from justice charge. Frank was housed in Clearfield County Jail without bail for murder. Lawrence Township police impounded his vehicle.
Detectives from Onondaga County Sheriff's Office arrived in Clearfield and interviewed Frank, and criminal homicide charges are pending.
Lawrence Township police are still conducting their investigation into the firearm Frank allegedly had in his possession when he was taken into custody.
