Accused unable to post bail Thursday, November 15, 2012 Bail was set for the Clearfield man involved yesterday morning in an armed standoff with police at the Spruce Grove mobile home park in which shots were fired. At approximately 4:45 a.m. police responded to 77 Spruce Grove when Peter A. Cain Jr., 43, of Clearfield allegedly threatened to shoot a woman while intoxicated. Upon arrival police met the woman outside and began evacuating neighbors when Cain allegedly fired five shots in the direction of police using a 22-caliber rifle from the window and door of his mobile home. A standoff with police then ensued until Cain surrendered to police almost two hours afterward at 6:35 a.m. He was arraigned yesterday morning before Magisterial Judge Richard Ireland who set bail at $100,000 straight. Cain was unable to post the bail and was placed in Clearfield County Jail. The complete list of charges against Cain is as follows: four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of assault of law enforcement officer, six counts of simple assault-attempt by menace, one count of terroristic threats - cause serious public inconvenience, six counts of terroristic threat with intent to terrorize another, discharge firearm into occupied structure, six counts of recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief/damage to property intentionally or negligently. Cain's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at noon.
