Police issue storm warning
Monday, October 29, 2012
Lawrence Township Police Department is advising all township residents that the storm, which will be passing through our area, will be severe in nature.
Police ask township residents if they reside near creeks, streams or the river to monitor the water levels. Residents should make sure that they have flashlights or other forms of lighting in the event that they lose power. Police remind residents that using candles can be extremely dangerous and residents should use caution if using candles for lighting.
Residents should also make sure that they have fully charged their cell phones, wireless computers and placed new batteries into their radios so they can monitor weather conditions.
Township maintenance and road crews will be on standby for any incidents along local roadways or streets.
They can be reached by contacting the police at 765-1533. Police advise residents to stay inside buildings, and if you must travel, make sure you have sufficient gas as you could encounter delays.
Motorists should use caution when driving and be aware of debris on the roadways and falling or blowing limbs or trees.
Motorists should never cross flooded roadways.
