Four area soccer teams ready for postseason play

The District 6 and District 9 girls and boys soccer brackets were recently announced, with four Progressland teams qualifying.
In District 9 Class AA, the Clearfield girls were tabbed as the top seed. The Lady Bison will await the winner of a semifinal between second-seeded St. Marys and third-seeded Bradford at a date, time and site to be announced.
The District 9 Class A bracket features the Curwensville girls as the second seed. The Lady Tide host Elk County Catholic on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in a first round match.
The winner of that game will take on the victor of third-seeded Ridgway and sixth-seeded Clarion in the quarterfinals.
The top half of the bracket features top-seeded Karns City, which received a bye and will face the winner of eighth-seeded Redbank Valley and ninth-seeded Forest Area.
The winner of the quarterfinal match will then face the winner of fourth-seeded Brookville and fifth-seeded DuBois Central Catholic.
In D-6, the Philipsburg-Osceola boys garnered the second seed in Class AA and will face seventh-seeded Cambria Heights on Wednesday in Philipsburg at 7:30 p.m.
A second quarterfinal matchup, between third-seeded Tyrone and sixth-seeded Bishop Carroll, will also be played at Philipsburg. It is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Bellefonte captured the top seed in Class AA and will host eighth-seeded Juniata.
In the other quarterfinal matchup in the top half of the bracket, fourth-seeded Bald Eagle Area will host fifth-seeded Richland.
In District 6 Class A, the West Branch girls captured the fourth seed and will travel to Altoona to face fifth-seeded Bald Eagle Area on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that game will take on top-seeded Bishop McCort at Point Stadium on Oct. 30.
In the other half of the bracket, third-seeded Bishop Guilfoyle plays sixth-seeded Penns Valley in Altoona at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The winner of that game will play second-seeded Richland.
