Two men accused of sex crimes headed to trial Thursday, October 11, 2012 By Jeff Corcino Staff Writer Two men accused in separate cases of sexually abusing children waived their rights to preliminary hearings at yesterday's session of centralized court held at the Clearfield County Jail. Christopher Reams, 31, of Glen Hope, is accused of raping and molesting an 8-year old boy and a 5-year old girl. The assaults allegedly occurred two years ago and the boy is now 10 years old and the girl, 7 years old. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the boy told police Reams took him into the bathroom, exposed himself and asked the boy to perform a sex act on him. The boy refused and Reams responded by performing a sex act upon the boy. The boy also accused Reams of raping him twice. The boy could not give exact dates when the incidents occurred. The girl accused Reams of sexually assaulting her on three occasions. In the first incident the girl stated Reams sexually assaulted her. On another occasion, she said Reams raped her. For the third assault she said Reams inappropriately kissed her. The girl could not give specific dates when the assaults occurred. Both children were interviewed by the state police at the Child Advocacy Center in Brookville on Aug. 15. When interviewed by the state police on Sept. 15, Reams admitted to raping the boy once but not the second time. He also refused to admit to performing the sex act on the boy and asking boy to perform a sex act on him. Reams admitted to police he sexually molested the girl but did not admit to raping her or inappropriately kissing her. Reams is charged in two separate cases and in each case he is charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault; involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child; sexual assault; indecent assault of a person less than 13-years of age; indecent exposure. Reams is incarcerated on $100,000 straight bail ($200,000 total) on each case. His hearings were scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Richard Ireland. In a separate case, William J. West, 44, of Woodland and of Lebanon, Missouri, waived his hearing before Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins on the following charges: four counts of statutory sexual assault, five counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse; five counts of aggravated indecent assault; photographing, videotaping, depicting on computer or filming sexual acts; corruption of minors; and five counts of indecent assault/person less than 16 years of age. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim stated West began having sexual intercourse and performing sexual acts on her for several years beginning when she was 11 years old. She said the assaults occurred at a private residence as well as in several other states. The girl said West purchased sexual paraphernalia, made her watch pornography and made her read pornography to him. She said West told her not to tell anybody and if she did, he would deny it and nobody would believe her. West was first interviewed by police on Sept. 27, but during a following interview, West admitted to having sexual intercourse with the girl on four occasions at his residence when she was 14 years old and admitted to having the girl perform a sex act on him at his residence. He also admitted to photographing the girl while she performed a sex act on him and while she posed in sexual positions. West is incarcerated in the CCJ in lieu of $250,000 straight bail.
