County approves contract for employees Wednesday, October 10, 2012 By Jeff Corcino Staff Writer The Clearfield County Commissioners tentatively approved an agreement for a new contract for the county's non-court related employees at its meeting yesterday. The contract covers approximately 17 caseworkers and a nurse at the Clearfield County Jail and lasts through Dec. 31, 2015. The employees would receive a 70-cent per hour raise in January 2013, or upon ratification, whichever comes later, according to Marianne Sankey, human resources coordinator. In 2014 the employees would receive a 40-cent raise and a 30-cent raise in 2015. At the request of the commissioners, the contract makes some changes in the employees' health insurance plan that will save the county some money on costs, Sankey said. The contract is retroactive to January of 2011, but none of the changes are retroactive; the changes that were made do not go into affect until next year, Commissioner Mark McCracken said. In other business. the commissioners voted to: • reject all the bids for the construction of a pole building for the probation department because the cost was higher than expected. The commissioners are planning to meet with their engineers to find ways to adjust the bid specifications to lower the cost of the building. The building would be used to house the lawn care equipment. • table the food service bid for the CCJ. The county received one bid from Trinity Services Group at a cost of $1.54 per meal. The bid was tabled pending review. • appoint Diane MacTavish to the Clearfield County Planning Commission. MacTavish is currently employed by the county as a field assessor in the DuBois area. Commissioner Mark McCracken noted that the county is still seeking applicants for the two open positions on the Clearfield County Industrial Development Authority. One position is to fill an un-expired term for two years and the other is for a full four-year term. Any county residents interested in serving should submit a letter to the commissioners. • approve the Hazardous Materials Response Plan for Unconventional Well Sites.
