Howard man receives sentence Friday, October 05, 2012 BELLEFONTE - Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller reported yesterday that Eric Yarrison, 27, of Howard was sentenced before the Honorable Pamela Ruest for charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threats. For the aggravated assault charge, Yarrison was sentenced to a state correctional institution for a period of not less than 1½-3 years, and for the terroristic threats charge, he was sentenced to a consecutive one year of probation to be supervised by the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole. Yarrison's total supervision will be for four years. Yarrison's charges stemmed from an incident in April, where he went to Justin Hinds' residence for a disputed debt. He attempted to strike Hinds on the head with a mini sledgehammer, but Hinds was able to block the majority of the blow. As Yarrison attempted to flee, he lit a napkin on fire and stuck it in the fuel filter of Hinds' vehicle. Yarrison also threatened to kill Hinds and shot one round from a rifle in the general direction of Hinds as he was driving away. Miller said, "We are pleased with the sentence and are grateful the victim was not injured more severely in this violent incident."
