Weekend Events is a weekly feature of The Progress published to alert readers about events planned by nonprofit organizations or events that benefit the community. All events are open to the public. The following events are planned this weekend in Progressland.
"Angel Street" will be presented at the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre building, 112 E. Locust St., Clearfield, Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8.50 at the door.
Grice Community Museum, 119 N. Fourth St., Clearfield, is open through the end of the month daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults.
The display includes antique and classic cars and wild game mounts from around the world.

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and volunteers of Glendale Area Public Library will host a book sale to benefit the library. The sale will be held Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day at the Coalport community building. Most books will be sold at $2.50 per bag.
Hyde Fire Co. will hold a hot hoagie sale Friday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Subs are 7-inch steak, meatball or barbecue for $6 each, and the proceeds benefit the fire company. Orders can be made early by calling 768-9407.
The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter No. 748 will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the Clearfield-Lawrence Township Airport Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Prices are $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. The meal includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, orange juice, coffee and tea. The airport road is directly across from Sapp Bros. truck stop, just off Interstate 80 at exit 120. This event is also a fly-in and typically there are a variety of airplanes on site to view. Proceeds benefit the chapter, which is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting aviation in the local community. Chicken barbecue/yard sale
A chicken barbecue will be held at the Karthaus firehall Saturday from noon until sold out. The meal will include half a chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans, roll, dessert and beverage. The price is $8. During the event there will also be a small yard sale inside and an open house to view the Karthaus Emergency Medical Service's new ambulance, along with fire department equipment. Proceeds benefit Karthaus Volunteer Fire Co.
Houtzdale Community Partnership Association presents The Moore Brothers Saturday from 8-11 p.m. at Houtzdale American Legion Freeberg Post No. 591. The cost is $5 per person (200 tickets available and those attending must be 21 or older). Cash bar and food will be available. For more information, call 378-7322 or 378-7448.
Bright Horizons Singles Club of DuBois will hold a dance Saturday from 8-11 a.m. at DuBois Veterans of Foreign Wars James J. Patterson Post No. 813. Pat Moore will have western dance music.
September Fest will be held at Big Run Park Saturday at 3 p.m. It will include a day of fun, food, games and music. All are welcome. Volunteers are needed to work in the kitchen, sell 50/50 chances and work game booths. Donations will be accepted for the Chinese auction and the flea market. The Sneaker Closet at Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield, will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. Children from birth through age 18 can receive a new pair of sneakers, a new pair of socks, a stuffed animal and a book. Children must have their Access or CHIP cards, be accompanied by a parent or guardian and be present to receive sneakers. For more information, call the church office at 765-9222.
Winburne Fire Co. will hold a chicken barbecue Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. at the firehall.
The price is $8 and includes half a barbecue chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad, dinner roll and dessert. Meals can be taken out or eaten in. Some tickets will be available at the door, while fire company members are selling the majority of tickets in advance. There will also be a 50/50 with tickets costing $2 each.
West Decatur Sportsmen Club will hold a covered dish picnic Sunday at 1 p.m. Those attending should bring their family, lawn chairs and a covered dish. New members are welcome the day of the picnic.
To have an event included, submit the information in writing to any office of The Progress by noon Tuesday. Late submissions will not be published, nor will submissions that do not include a contact person and daytime telephone number.
The Progress does not include bingo, club events that are limited to members and guests only or yard sales or flea markets by private individuals in the Weekend Events section.
