McDonald's unveils rebuilt Clearfield restaurant Thursday, September 20, 2012 Today, the McDonald's in Clearfield opened its doors and welcomed customers into the completely rebuilt restaurant at 1007 S. Second St. Starting at 6 a.m., the first 100 customers through the doors won a coupon good for one free Big Mac every week for an entire year. On June 21, the restaurant, which first opened Nov. 15, 1974, was torn down to make room for the new, modern McDonald's to be built. Owner/operator of the Clearfield McDonald's Lisa Beatty gathered with city officials and other members of the community in July to ceremoniously scoop the first dirt onto the construction site as the new restaurant began its rebuild. "Demolition day was definitely bittersweet, but now seeing the result of the new restaurant is absolutely incredible," said Beatty. "It's amazing what a transformation the restaurant has undergone in just a few months' time." Clearfield residents can now be treated to a new dining experience at the new restaurant, which now features the newest contemporary McDonald's design inside and out. It is equipped with all of the state-of-the-art amenities such as comfortable bistro-style seating, chic décor, flat-screen televisions and a double lane drive-through service. Since the restaurant was torn down, Beatty has been paying her employees their same McDonald's wages for doing volunteer work in the community until the new restaurant reopens. In celebration of the grand reopening, Beatty will be making a donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clearfield County. In celebration of the grand opening, the Clearfield Mc-Donald's location will offer a raffle for prizes. Through Oct. 20, customers can enjoy menu specials including Sunday, buy one, get one free cone; Monday, buy one, get one free hot cakes with sausage platters; Tuesday, buy one, get one free bacon, egg and cheese biscuit sandwich; Wednesday, buy a large Extra Value Meal, get any free snack wrap; Thursday, buy one, get one free quarter pounder with cheese; Friday, $1 any hot McCafe beverage all day; Saturday, get a free pie with the purchase of any Extra Value Meal.
