Harmony approves change orders Monday, August 20, 2012 WESTOVER - At a special meeting Thursday, Harmony School Board approved two change orders for its building complex renovation project and accepted the resignation of the district's water and wastewater plants operator. With unanimous votes, the board approved a recommendation by J.C. Orr and Sons, Altoona, the district's general contractor, to install 34,000 feet of 1 1/2-inch metal roofing material at a cost of $10 per square foot - the price indicated in its contract for the work. The school board, at its June 18 meeting, awarded contracts for a renovation project that includes replacement of the roof on the school complex and upgrades to bring the building into compliance with state building codes and standards and requirements set by the Americans with Disabilities Act at a total cost of just under $4 million. The board also authorized L.R. Kimball Inc. of Ebensburg, project manager to proceed with professional design services for a potable water system upgrade at a cost of $24,950. The cost is included in the district's budget. The board also accepted the resignation of John Patrick as the water and wastewater plants operator effective Aug. 13. The board will meet for a work session on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at the high school library.
