Speed display in Sandy Twp.
Saturday, August 18, 2012
DUBOIS - Motorists traveling along state Route 4012 (Liberty Road) in Sandy Township will be reminded of one of the most common types of aggressive driving behavior: speeding.
The state Department of Transportation recently placed a radar-controlled speed display sign in a 35 mph zone along westbound SR 4012. The speed display sign uses radar to determine the speeds of oncoming traffic. Vehicle speeds are then posted on the lighted section of the sign.
The speed display sign will remain on location for up to four weeks.
Speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors are among the leading causes of crashes and fatalities in Pennsylvania. Other aggressive driving behaviors include running stop signs or red lights, passing illegally and tailgating.
