Clearfield Police locate man in river rescue Tuesday, August 07, 2012 On Tuesday at 7:57 p.m., Clearfield Police were called to Upper Witmer Park, East Locust St., for a suspicious man near the river. The man was found to be a minor and under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. Clearfield EMS was summoned and transported the man to Clearfield Hospital. While conducting the investigation, police learned from the minor that he was floating on tubes in the river with three friends and his friends were now missing. Clearfield Police, Lawrence Township Police, Pennsylvania State Police, the Clearfield Fire Department, Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co., Lawrence Township Fire Department and Clearfield EMA conducted a search of the river. An 18-year-old man from Bigler was located under the Market Street Bridge still in a raft on the river. He was also found to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol and required medical attention. He was transported to Clearfield Hospital. Officials located the other two men involved and found they were safe at home. The other two men left the river prior to the incident.
