4-H, FFA projects touted at ceremony

Award-winning projects completed by Clearfield County's 4-H and FFA members were touted at last night's annual 4-H and FFA awards ceremony at the Clearfield County Fair.
Jana Davidson, Penn State Extension 4-H and youth development educator for Clearfield County, welcomed the crowd and expressed her pleasure in all 2012 4-H and FFA members' 2011-12 accomplishments.
"I am just so proud of all the kids for their achievements throughout the year. Even if they are not getting an award tonight, they've all worked hard this year and deserve to be recognized."
Davidson also noted 4-H is observing a major milestone this year with its centennial anniversary. "We have a lot to celebrate tonight in both the work of the 4-H and FFA members and 100 years of 4-H," she said.
Misti Bruner, the 2012 Clearfield County Fair queen and her court, Chelsea Folmar, first runner-up; and Christine Whited, second runner-up provided introductions of award recipients and presenters and assisted with handing out trophies.
Centre Hill Grange was honored with the best grange exhibit award sponsored by Penelec. Thundering Hoofbeats 4-H Club received the best 4-H exhibit award sponsored by American Propane.
Individual awards were presented to: Michael Minicucci, Clearfield County 4-H Livestock Club, best 4-H vegetable exhibit sponsored by Agway and the 4-H spirit award determined and sponsored by Jana Davidson. The award recognizes a 4-H member's outstanding character.
