Fire company event set for Saturday at Cold Stream Dam
Wednesday, July 25, 2012
PHILIPSBURG - On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services and Hope and Reliance Fire companies, all of Philipsburg, and Mountain Top Fire Co. Ambulance of Sandy Ridge will hold a community day at Cold Stream Dam, Philipsburg.
This event will allow residents to get up-close views of firefighting and EMS equipment, look at the vehicles, and ask firefighters and ambulance personnel questions.
Children will receive coloring books and crayons, and there will be free hot dogs, chips and drinks available.
Admission to the event is also free.
Members of all four companies said they wish to "give back" to the community that supports them throughout the year, and this is a way of being able to do that.
Justin Butterworth, assistant department chief, Philipsburg Fire Department, said there will be personnel and information on what's necessary to join a fire company or EMS.
