Westover festival begins Wednesday Saturday, July 21, 2012 WESTOVER - The annual Westover Homecoming and Blue-grass Festival starts Wednesday at Mosser Memorial Park. On Thursday, there will be a potluck picnic at 5 p.m. and music to follow. On Friday, there will be a fish dinner served at the nearby Westover Grace United Methodist Church from 4-7 p.m. Music will be performed on the stage beginning at 6 p.m. On Saturday, there will be town-wide yard sales beginning at approximately 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., there will be a duck race fundraiser on Chest Creek. Music will begin at 3 p.m., and a brisket dinner will be served at 5 p.m. at the park. On Sunday, breakfast will be served beginning at 8 a.m. The cost is a donation. There will also be 50/50 raffles and basket fundraisers held Thursday through Saturday. Proceeds from the event will benefit Westover Borough's match for grant funds received from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to make upgrades to Mosser Memorial Park. The borough recently received $30,000 in DCNR funds to complete the third phase of work - construction of a new pavilion. The borough must raise $6,800 to match the grant and provide $4,000 worth of donated labor. For additional information about the activities, contact Therese Westover at 247-8294.
