DAILY POLICE LOG Tuesday, July 17, 2012 State police at Clearfield During an argument at Bigler Trailer Park in Bradford Township at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, a Houtzdale man allegedly punched a woman in the face several times and kicked her in the face and ribs. He was arraigned on simple assault charges before Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins and released on $10,000 unsecured bond. --- In a two-vehicle accident Wednesday, Paul Moran of Winston Salem, N.C., who was driving a Honda Element, was traveling south on state Route 729 and Daniel Smeal of Ramey, who was driving a Mack Granite tri-axle truck, was traveling east on SR 969 when Moran failed to stop at a stop sign. Moran's vehicle entered the intersection of SR 729 and SR 969, causing Smeal's vehicle to strike the back of Moran's with the front fender. After impact, Moran's vehicle overturned onto its roof and came to a final rest on the south berm of SR 969 facing southwest. Smeal's vehicle traveled an additional 150 feet east and came to a final rest on the south berm of SR 969. Smeal was not injured. Moran suffered major injuries and was transported to Altoona Regional Health System by Curwensville Emergency Medical Services. He was cited for a stop sign violation. Rescue Hose & Ladder Fire Co. assisted at the scene. --- In a single-vehicle accident at 8:59 p.m. last night, Jason Kinzey of Dayton was traveling east on U.S. Route 322 when he swerved to miss a deer and lost control of his vehicle. Kinzey's vehicle traveled off of the south side of the road and struck an embankment, causing it to overturn onto its side. Kinzey was flown to Altoona Regional Health System by medical helicopter for further evaluation of his injuries. Lawrence Township Fire Department, Clearfield EMS and the state Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. --- Police investigated a domestic violence incident Sunday on Church Street in Morris Township where a Morrisdale man was arrested for simple assault and placed in Clearfield County Jail. --- Someone entered Butler Trucking in Bradford Township over the weekend and hooked up a Bedford man's trailer containing stainless steel ingots belonging to Cruisable Industries of Syracuse, N.Y., and left with it. Clearfield Boro Police responded to the area of South Fifth and East Market streets for an intoxicated male who was looking in vehicles. --- Police assisted Lawrence Township police with a missing girl and located her in the borough. The girl was then transported home where she was released to her parents. Lawrence Township In a minor accident near Rudd Equipment on Clearfield-Woodland Highway, a tractor-trailer pulled down a wire from a telephone pole. --- An attempted burglary was reported at a residence on Carbon Mine Road. --- Police assisted motorists with unlocking their vehicles in two incidents. --- In an incident of theft by unlawful taking at Lawrence Township Recreation Park, someone took a ball glove that belongs to a Frenchville juvenile. --- A vehicle was repossessed from a residence on Clarendon Avenue. --- Officers checked on the welfare of a woman at CoGos along Clearfield-Shawville Highway. --- Charges are pending after a theft occurred at a Martin Street Extension business. --- An incident of theft was reported on Franks Lane. --- In an incident of harassment, a known woman placed unwanted phone calls to another individual. --- Police advised an individual to contact an attorney in reference to child custody issues. --- Someone recovered a cell phone on Coal Hill Road, and police made contact with its owner who retrieved it. --- Police received a call in regard to a damaged vehicle. --- In a minor accident at a South Second Street business, an unoccupied vehicle coasted and struck another vehicle. --- An incident of disorderly conduct was reported. --- Someone stole a ladder from a Franks Lane residence, and anyone with information in regard to the incident is asked to contact township police. --- Police received information in regard to a wanted individual. --- A dog was found and returned to its owner. --- An incident of criminal mischief occurred on Nelson Road over the weekend. --- The investigation continues into an incident of criminal trespass that occurred at 98 Franks Lane, and anyone with information in regard to the incident is asked to contact the police. --- A runaway juvenile was found by Clearfield Borough police. --- Officers responded to a reported fight at Edgewood Apartments where they spoke with a resident and handled the situation at the scene.
State police at Punxsy The investigation continues into an alleged fight on Maple Street in Burnside on July 3 involving an 18-year-old man, three boys, and three girls.
State police at DuBois Between June 12 and July 12, someone stole six bulldozer/ truck batteries, a 5-gallon gas can and gasoline, valued at a total of approximately $575, from a Curwensville company's logging area north of Gospel Center Road in Winslow Township, Jefferson County. --- The investigation continues after someone removed mail order packages from a residence along SR 410 in Brady Township on June 27 and July 9. Anyone with information in regard to these incidents is asked to contact the state police at 371-4652. --- A vehicle containing four firearms was stolen after a DuBois man attended a party on Buhite Road in Brady Township Saturday night and left it unattended and unsecured with its keys in the center compartment. The vehicle was later recovered in Reynoldsville.
Sandy Township A DuBois woman reported Friday that someone called her house stating they needed to confirm her Social Security number. Sandy Township police remind residents to never give personal information over the phone to unknown individuals. --- A Treasure Lake resident reported someone took a picnic table valued at $200. --- Employees of Ponderosa restaurant reported that a white female, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and 180 pounds with red hair entered the restaurant and ordered two kids' meals, and paid for them with a $50 bill. After the cashier gave her the correct change the woman turned around, stuck two $20 bills in her pocket, then returned to the cashier stating she did not get the right change. The investigation continues. --- A Reynoldsville man pulled his vehicle from a parking space in the Walmart parking lot and witnesses reported he seemed to loose consciousness, causing him to accelerate, hit two vehicles, and then hit the building. The man was transported to DuBois Regional Medical Center. No other injuries were reported. --- A West Liberty resident turned a black dog over to police after he found it wandering around near Johnson Motors. --- Someone broke out a rear window at Central Catholic High School. --- A man was walking to the bar at the Clarion Motel when he attempted to break up a fight in the parking lot. When he intervened a DuBois man involved in the fight attacked him and then fled the scene. --- DUI charges are pending against a Texas man after he was pulled over Saturday for running a patrol vehicle off the road. After failing field sobriety tests he was transported to DRMC for a legal blood draw, then to CCJ where he was housed on a 48-hour commitment. --- A passerby reported hearing small children screaming in a Treasure Lake house. Upon investigation, officers found a 17 -year-old babysitting smaller children and they had been roughhousing. --- An Arizona woman was seen soliciting money in the Walmart parking lot Sunday. Officers handled the situation without incident. --- Someone forced open the front door of Rosio Coal and Trucking on South Brady Street Nothing appeared to be missing. --- A Clearfield woman reported that her car was hit, causing minor damage, in the Walmart parking lot. --- An Old Woods Road resident reported a neighbor was having a party and the noise was bothering him. Officers investigated and found the noise was not unreasonable. --- A White Pine Road woman reported a neighbor's dog attacked and injured her dog. The investigation continues.
State Police at Philipsburg Report three people from Philipsburg were involved in a verbal argument, which turned physical, on Front Street at the Mini Mart, Thursday. All were charged with disorderly conduct. --- A resident of Martin Street in Rush Township reported an oxygen cylinder was removed from his front yard on Thursday. It turned out that the man who took the cylinder had loaned the person one like it and came to reclaim his property. --- Someone stole rings and necklaces from a residence on 11th Street in Philipsburg Borough, valued at $2,400, Thursday. They also stole two watches from another resident, valued at $300. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at Philipsburg. --- Two items, valued at $10, were taken from a vehicle on Sheffield Road in Rush Township sometime between Friday and Saturday. --- Three known female juveniles entered a residence on Oakwood Street in Philipsburg Borough without consent of the owner on July 9. ---- Someone dumped several bags of garbage along Way and Orchard roads in Worth Township, Centre County, between April 1 and Sunday. There was also a small blue pickup truck cap at the location. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at Philipsburg. --- Four men were found to be in possession of various drugs, paraphernalia, and brass knuckles during a traffic stop between East Pine Street and East Spruce Street in Philipsburg Borough Sunday. ---- During a traffic stop at the corner of Front and Presqueisle streets Thursday, a man was found to be under the influence of alcohol. --- An investigation is continuing into a reported incident of a 17- year-old boy having sex with a 13-year-old girl between June 4 and 16. --- Someone keyed the passenger front door of a red Hyundai SUV on Front Street near the Subway restaurant in Rush Township Wednesday causing $1,000 in damage. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police in Philipsburg at 342-3370. --- An accident occurred on July 9 on SR 350, Tyrone Pike in Taylor Township, Centre County. The driver became distracted by a GPS unit mounted on the windshield and lost control of the vehicle, which struck a fence and telephone pole. There were no injuries.
State police at Ebensburg State police report a harassment charge was filed against a 15-year-old girl after she struck a 16-year-old girl on July 9. Both are residents of Pyramids Group Home on Skyline Drive in Blandburg, Cambria County.
