Carnival rides added to Curwensville Days Thursday, July 12, 2012 CURWENSVILLE - The 2012 edition of Curwensville Days will feature a carnival. At its final meeting last night, the committee reported a contract has been signed with Double M Amusements of York to provide eight rides for the festival that gets underway Sunday at Irvin Park. The rides will be open Monday through July 21 beginning at 6 p.m. nightly. They will include an elephant ride, a car ride, kid's swings, moon bounce, train and a rapid slide for children and a Ferris wheel and scrambler for older youth and adults. Tickets will be $1 each and admission to some rides will require more than one ticket. Those who want an evening of unlimited rides may purchase a wristband at a cost of $10 each. There have also been changes to the entertainment lineup. "Striped Maple Hollow" will perform July 19 following the conclusion of the fiddler's contest at approximately 8 p.m. According to Dave Franson of the Curwensville Days Committee, the band performs bluegrass and country-style music. "Striped Maple Hollow" replaces "Whisky River Panhandlers" who were scheduled to perform but pulled out this week for personal reasons. July 22, from 6-7 p.m., Touch of Gold Indoor Baton and Flag Team will perform. The award-winning unit will execute their maneuvers on the paved area in front of the band shell stage.
