State police at Clearfield
The investigation continues after someone removed a Pennsylvania vehicle registration plate, YHG4222, from a truck while it was parked on Fruit Hill Road in Jordan Township at 6 a.m. yesterday.

No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle accident at 4:15 a.m. on Swoope Street in Brisbin where Cruz Josefik attempted to pick up a cigarette he dropped onto the floor of his vehicle, causing him to travel off of the west berm and strike a guide wire to a utility pole. After impact, Josefik's vehicle traveled approximately 10 feet north, causing the pole to snap in several places and attached transformer lines to fall to the ground. Houtzdale Fire Co. and Houtzdale fire police assisted at the scene.

Clearfield Boro
Police received a complaint of a company calling residents and soliciting money for local volunteer fire companies. Police remind residents that calls of this nature may not be legitimate. Police ask that residents attempt to identify the caller before providing money or personal information.

Officers assisted a motorist who locked their keys in their vehicle at Budget Inn.

Someone reported two dogs had been locked inside of a vehicle at Big Lots for over 30 minutes, and police advised the driver of the vehicle to leave her dogs at home when it's hot outside.

No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident on Old Town Road where Carol Blake of Clearfield was traveling south when a vehicle driven by Esther McNeal of Cherry Tree exited a gas station and struck the right front fender of her vehicle.

Police were called to assist a motorist who locked their keys in their vehicle, however, a relative brought them a spare key.

An area business was found to be secure after police responded to an alarm there.

A black bear was reported in the Hyde area.

Suspicious activity was reported on Lawhead Street.

The investigation continues into a possible DUI accident on state Route 879 where a truck driver exited a motel driveway, crossed both lanes of traffic, struck several mailboxes, and fled the scene.

Police responded to a domestic incident in the Hillsdale area, and the investigation continues.

State police at Philipsburg
An investigation is continuing into an incident of simple assault and theft that occurred this morning at 12:30 a.m. on Presqueisle Street in Philipsburg. A woman was assaulted in her apartment when she saw a man she knew rummaging through her purse and taking money. She got into a physical altercation with the man that continued outside. The man got into a burgundy van to drive away, but the woman tried to stop him by hanging onto the side of the van. The man kicked the woman several times, knocking her into the roadway, and then left the scene.

State police at Rockview
State Police at Rockview report a fatal accident occurred yesterday on Taylor Hill Road in Potter Township, Centre County, when a 2001 Toyota Camry, driven by Virginia Swank, 75, of Centre Hall drifted off the road and down a small embankment, flipping over onto the passenger side and catching on fire. The driver was pulled from the vehicle. However, a passenger, Howard Swank, 75, was unable to be pulled from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers.
