DAILY POLICE LOG Thursday, July 05, 2012 State police at Clearfield A Karthaus girl allegedly continued to harass a Karthaus woman and her family between 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 10:05 p.m. Sunday. --- The investigation continues after drug paraphernalia was found at a trailer on Irvona Road in Jordan Township Monday that had been previously rented out. --- Charges are pending the results of a legal blood draw after a Morrisdale man allegedly struck a parked vehicle on Old Route 53 in Kylertown with his vehicle and was found to be driving under the influence. --- In a two-vehicle accident at 10:24 p.m. last night, Rebecca Hess of Olanta was legally stopped at a stop sign on Zion Road waiting to turn onto SR 453 north when someone driving an orange Polaris Ranger XP UTV passed her vehicle from behind and sideswiped it. Hess and her passenger, Jacalyn Smith of Curwensville, were not injured. The Polaris contained two passengers who were described to be in their 20s, a male driver and a female passenger. The female passenger who had blond or brown-colored hair and was wearing a pink T-shirt was possibly injured in the crash. The vehicle fled the scene on SR 453 south and drove through Kellytown where it was not pursued further by Hess. The UTV in question was believed to be with a larger group of UTVs. Anyone with information pertaining to the occupants of the hit-and-run UTV or any other UTV riders seen at a fireworks display at Robbins' Lumber Co. is asked to contact Trooper Jared Wolff at 857-3800. Clearfield Boro The investigation continues into a burglary that reportedly occurred at a downtown location. --- A stolen wallet was located in a barrel at the Driving Park. --- An act of vandalism was reported at the Clearfield Bison Wall on East Market Street. --- Police responded to Clearfield Street for a skunk that was trapped in a fence. The skunk's foot was stuck in a rattrap and the trap was lodged in the fence. Officers placed a blanket over the skunk and freed its foot from the trap. Lawrence Township Police were canceled en route to a false alarm at Clearfield Elementary School. --- A report to police was deemed to be civil in nature. --- A traffic hazard was reported on Boykiw Lane. --- The Internal Revenue Service is investigating an incident in which someone filed a tax return under another individual's social security number. --- Someone found a wallet along the SR 879 bypass. --- In an incident of criminal mischief, juveniles were reportedly throwing objects off of a railroad bridge. --- The investigation continues after a theft from a motor vehicle at the Sons of Italy picnic grounds on 21st Street. Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the police at 765-1533. --- Officers assisted an arson investigator with collecting data and evidence from an arson that occurred on Franks Lane in June. Police and investigators are waiting on the results of a forensic analysis that is currently being conducted. --- A small tree that fell during a storm and blocked both lanes of Flegal Road was removed by police. --- Police were called to Purcell Tire on SR 879 for an alarm. --- Downed trees and electric lines were reported in the area of Reed Road, and police turned the incident over to a utility company. --- A panic alarm was accidentally set off while someone was cleaning a retail store. --- Someone reported a suspicious vehicle in Mt. Zion. --- Police were called to Weaver Street Extension for an incident of disorderly conduct, trespassing and related civil issues and handled the incident at the scene. --- A resident locked their keys in their car. --- Contact was made with an individual who a caller had not been heard from in awhile, and police informed them everything was OK. --- A motorist struck a deer with their vehicle on Glen Richey Highway and left the scene. Fire department personnel assisted at the scene. --- Police were called to Lawrence Park Village to assist a motorist who locked his keys in his vehicle. --- Fireworks were reported in the area of Capitol Hill Road and Norman Road, however, the display was over prior to police arrival. --- Someone reported M-80s were set off at Edgewood Apartments, but the individuals who set them off stopped before the police were called. --- A Wolf Run business was found to be secure after police responded to an alarm. --- Fireworks were reportedly set off at Edgewood Apartments.
DuBois City In an attempted child abduction incident, a 10-year-old girl advised a white man, approximately 40 years old with brown crew cut style hair drove up beside her on West Washington Avenue in an older red van at 8:34 p.m. on Sunday and attempted to lure her into it and she ran away. The van is described as being in good condition with dark tinted windows. City police continue to investigate, and asks the public for its help. --- Everything was found to be alright on the 700 block of W. Long Ave. after a reported disturbance on Monday. --- A Falls Creek man, who was allegedly huffing Duster, struck a vehicle on Beaver Drive and another vehicle on East DuBois Avenue Tuesday and fled the scene both times. The man then drove into the parking lot of DuBois Logistics on Beaver Drive and struck signs, fencing and other items before driving off of an embankment and into a swamp. Officers located the man in the vehicle and took him into custody. He was not injured. --- Two people were transported by ambulance after a single-vehicle accident Tuesday on First Street where their vehicle overturned due to a mechanical failure. A Punxsutawney woman, who was a front seat passenger, was ejected from the vehicle. Sandy Township police, DuBois Fire Department and DuBois Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene. --- A DuBois woman was arrested Tuesday for domestic violence assault after she struck her father in the face with a cell phone.
Morris-Cooper Regional Two bicycles were found along Pearce Hollow Road and were later removed by the owner. --- A 13-year-old boy was being harassed by other juveniles in Cooper Township. The investigation continues. --- A motorcycle operator was cited for several violations on Pearce Hollow Road. --- Police handled an incident of fireworks and shooting of guns in Grassflat. --- Someone almost struck a pedestrian on Maple Street in Lanse while operating a red and white motorcycle. Anyone with information is asked to call police. --- A Morrisdale resident failed to negotiate a curve on Schoolhouse Road and traveled into a ditch with the vehicle overturning onto the driver's side. The investigation continues. --- Police responded to a loud music complaint on Grassflat Avenue. When police arrived, the music was turned down. --- A Morrisdale resident failed to yield right of way to oncoming traffic, nearly causing an accident at the intersection of Main Street and the Kylertown-Drifting Highway. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and later released to family members. --- State police at Philipsburg An accident occurred this morning at 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Front and Railroad streets in Rush Township when Diane M. Youngblood of Osceola Mills failed to see a traffic island near Snappy's. She applied the brakes and the vehicle began to slide on the dirt and gravel. The right front wheel struck the island curb and bent inward. Youngblood was not injured. --- Someone scattered a bag of garbage in a yard on West Sawmill Road in Worth Township, Centre County. The garbage had been put out by a neighbor for pick up. The perpetrator may have been driving a red Chevrolet truck. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at Philipsburg at 342-3370. --- With the approach of the Fourth of July holiday, police remind residents that the use of certain fireworks is illegal and dangerous. If someone is planning to celebrate the holiday with fireworks, make sure they are not illegal or dangerous ones. State troopers will be enforcing the law relative to fireworks throughout the holiday weekend. They will also be monitoring traffic and remind residents to not drink and drive. In addition, police remind residents to lock vehicles and homes. Thefts from vehicles are always a problem in the summer months. These crimes can be avoided if people lock their vehicles.
