Philipsburg Legion splits weekend games

BEECH CREEK - The Philipsburg American Legion baseball team split weekend games with Beech Creek and Mifflin County.
The Phils topped Beech Creek, 3-1, on Sunday, but fell to Mifflin County, 3-2, on Saturday.
In Sunday's game, Robbie Smith and Kyle Johns each knocked in a run for Philipsburg. Aaron Lidgett picked up the win on the mound, allowing just one earned run on three hits and three walks. He also struck out nine batters.
Curtis Baugh, Luther Harlow and Derek Greene all scored runs for the Phils, who improved to 2-2 overall.
On Saturday, the Phils gave up two runs in the bottom of the fourth to fall to host Mifflin County.
Cody Lee had the lone RBI for Philipsburg. He also had a double. Smith and Johns scored runs for the Phils. Lee took the loss as well, allowing just two earned runs on five hits and two walks. He fanned six batters.
Philipsburg returns to action on Tuesday, hosting State College.
