Curwensville students receive scholarships and awards Saturday, June 16, 2012 CURWENSVILLE - Graduating seniors at Curwensville Area High School received more than $86,000 in scholarships and awards during the awards ceremony June 4 at the Dr. Leslie D. Leach auditorium. The John B. Gates Memorial Scholarship of $13,000 each was presented to Kristen Pentz and Nathan Stiles, who also received the Curwensville Area High School National Honor Society's scholarships of $500 each. The Gary T. "G.T." Waroquier Memorial Scholarship of $10,000 was given to Seth Michaels. Jesse Zorger received the Kujawa Memorial Scholarship of $1,300. Curwensville Rotary Club's $1,000 scholarship and the Nancy McFadden Wriglesworth Mem-orial Nursing Scholarship of $1,000 and the Harriet Carfley Scholarship of $500 were presented to Michaela Magnuson. Alissa Gill received a $1,000 scholarship from Curwensville Lions Club. The Carla and Levi Rowles Memorial Scholarship of $750 and the Fred and Alma Ardary Memorial Scholarship of $500 were given to Sara Geisler. Rebecca Hill received the Passarelli/Caramela Memorial Scholarship of $975. The Cur-wensville Business and Professional Women Scholarship of $500 each were presented to Maura Hullihen and Jarrett Sheeder. Sheeder also received Curwensville Midget Football Scholarships of $500 along with Nicollette Lezzer. The Jay Buhler Scholarship of $500 was given to Marissa Decker. The Devan Flanagan Memorial Scholarship of $500 each were awarded to Madison Peterman and Todd Munchak. Kylie Nixon received the $500 scholarship from the Curwens-ville Area Education Associ-ation. Scholarships from the Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Robert Ferguson Post No. 842 were given to Jarrett Sheeder, $1,000, and Rikki Wells, Madison Peterman, Todd Munchak and Savannah Strickland, $500 each. The David Aughenbaugh Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 was presented to Michaela Magnuson. Elizabeth Houser received the $500 Florence Jones Memorial Scholarship. The Faye L. and Amos B. Tate Memorial Scholarship of $500 was presented to Jacob Keller. Jason Baker received the $500 Gary T. "G.T." Waroquier Foot-ball Scholarship. The RayMark Broadcasting Scholarship of $500 was awarded to Louis Stubbs. Scholarships of $500 each from Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. were presented to Marissa Decker and Megan Munchak. Madison Peterman received the $500 Brenda L. Clapsaddle Thornhill Memorial Scholarship and the $1,000 James O. Addleman Scholarship. The Grampian Lions Club's scholarships of $500 each were given to Jesse Zorger and Megan Munchak. Kristen Pentz was awarded the Class of 1993 Drew Edwards Memorial Scholarship of $500. The Class of 1985 Student Academic Achievement Scholar-ship of $250 was presented to Zachary Kolesar. Grant Keifer received the $100 Class of 1977 Rusty Folmar Memorial Scholarship. The Ernestine Naddeo Nurses Memorial Scholarship of $250 and the Alan Fairman Scholarship of $500 were awarded to Savannah Strickland. Maria Angelo received the $500 Ralph Woodel Music Scholarship. The Kimberly Jo Dotts Memorial Scholarship of $100 was given to Brittany Peoples. Michaela Magnuson, Marissa Decker and Maria Angelo received the Darlene Kimball Band Merit Awards of $100 each. The Golden Tide Cheerleading Scholarships were presented to Katie Duttry and Kylie Nixon, $150 each; and Nicollette Lezzer and Maura Hullihen, $125 each. Megan Barrett, Madison Peterman, Molly Demchak and Hannah Bressler each received $100 in Curwensville Golden Tide Softball Scholarships. Curwensville Golden Tide Wrestling Scholarships of $500 each were presented to Jason Baker, Chad Desmett, Jake Keller and Alex Holt. Seth Michaels and Alicia Royer were awarded $250 each in American Legion Scholarships. The American Legion Women's Auxiliary Scholarship of $250 was given to Katie Duttry. Sara Geisler and Alissa Gill received $50 each from the Love Bug Award/Scholarship. Scott Peoples received the $500 Helmbold & Stewart Insurance Business Scholarship. Curwensville Golden Tide Football Scholarships of $200 each were presented to Chad Desmett, Cody Bloom, Jason Baker, Jarrett Sheeder, Kyle Scribe, Todd Munchak, Seth Michaels, Frank Goodroe, Jesse Zorger and Alex Holland. Jeff Makkos and Zachary Kolesar were awarded $200 each in Curwensville Golden Tide Boys Soccer Scholarships. Curwensville Golden Tide Girls Soccer Scholarships were presented to Alissa Gill, Sara Geisler, Katie Duttry and Maria Angelo, $200 each; and Macey Anderson, $150. Curwensville Golden Tide Volleyball Scholarships were given to Hannah Bressler, Madison Peterman, Savannah Strickland and Rikki Wells, $200 each; and Miranda Elensky, $100.
