Daily Police Log Tuesday, June 12, 2012 State police at Clearfield On Sunday at 1:54 p.m., a Sagamore man was not injured in a one-vehicle accident on Joy Hill Road in Knox Township when he was traveling south and swerved to miss a deer. His vehicle traveled approximately 150 feet, left the east side of the road and struck a ditch He was wearing a seat belt. --- Yesterday at 8 p.m., a one-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80 westbound at mile marker 119 in Lawrence Township when a State College woman was traveling in the left lane. She attempted to pass a vehicle that began to enter her lane and forced her vehicle off the roadway, it traveled into the center median, struck an embankment and overturned several times. During the investigation, it was determined the woman was under the influence of alcohol. One of her two passengers, a Reynoldsville man, was transported to Clearfield Hospital for treatment. --- Tommy Gates of Coalport was not injured when he lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to down shift on Crossroads Boulevard in Bigler Township June 5 at 12:30 a.m. His vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a parked vehicle and garage.
Clearfield Boro The Clearfield man who assaulted his wife at their Bigler Avenue apartment Sunday was served a warrant for aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangering and several summary offenses. He was arraigned by the on-duty magisterial district judge and could not post bail, and was incarcerated at Clearfield County Jail. --- Two Clearfield men were found on the front porch of a Margaretta Street residence following a reported burglary, and the owner was out of town. One of the men was wanted by Decatur Township police, taken into custody and turned over to Decatur Township Police Department. --- Harassment was reported at a West Side residence. --- Officers were called for assistance with a civil issue. --- Those involved in a disturbance at the Reed Street apartments were advised of the complaint and separated for the night. --- The suspicious person reported on Turnpike Avenue was gone prior to police arrival. --- A vehicle parked on private property along East Pine Street was ticketed. --- In a trespassing complaint, a Clearfield man was served a notice that he was not permitted on Hillcrest Cemetery property, but was seen by the caretaker walking on the property yesterday. --- Officers assisted Penelec and the fire department with a power outage on South Fourth Street.
Lawrence Township Police provided the owner of a motel with the names of two vehicle owners so management could contact them. --- Someone reported a dog was left inside a vehicle at an area business with the windows up, but the vehicle left prior to police arrival. --- Construction equipment struck a phone line on Beauty Lane and officers notified Verizon Wireless. --- Officers advised an individual to send a certified letter to another individual who is not wanted in the Country Club area. --- Known people of interest reportedly littered in the Kennedy Road area. --- Following a report of a sick or injured animal, police responded and put the animal down. --- Several vehicles parked on Antis Hill Road were ticketed. --- Those involved in an incident of harassment were advised to cease contact with each another. --- Possible drug activity was reported at an area motel. --- No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle accident on private property where a vehicle struck and knocked over a light pole. --- An agency contacted police in regard to theft of services and repossession of a vehicle, but the vehicle and owner were not located in the township. It was referred to the appropriate agency.
DuBois City The investigation continues after someone broke into a trailer on North Franklin Street Friday and stole four 15-inch tire rims. --- On Friday at 8:11 p.m., police were called to DuBois City Park for a report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance, where he fell several times and passed out in the grass near the When an ambulance was called and emergency medical technicians arrived, he refused treatment and tried to fight with them. The man was arrested for public drunkenness and was transported to Clearfield County Jail. --- While on patrol Saturday, police noticed a gold vehicle traveling on Main Street with part of its front bumper dragging on the roadway. Also, the operator was driving recklessly on the wrong side of the road and the vehicle struck a curb. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the person kept driving while violating other motor vehicle laws. Other officers stopped their vehicles and blocked one lane of travel, but the motorist did not stop and one officer had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. The vehicle then ran over a stop sign and struck a guide rail on Larkeytown Road. Individuals inside the vehicle, two boys, ages 15 and 12, jumped out and attempted to flee the scene, but were apprehended. It was determined the older boy was the driver and the vehicle had been stolen from a DuBois business earlier in the day. --- The investigation continues after a known woman stole a West Washington Avenue resident's credit card and charged more than $190 on it. --- Officers are investigating after someone stole the side mirrors from an East DuBois Avenue man's vehicle Sunday. --- In an act of criminal mischief Sunday at 3:30 a.m., someone ripped the passenger-side mirrors off of two vehicles parked in the 200 block of West Second Avenue. --- During a burglary in the 500 block of South Avenue, a resident reported someone smashed a sliding glass door and entered the residence. Officers searched the area and located Jeffrey Allen Murray of DuBois, who admitted to breaking into the residence. He was arrested and arraigned and placed in CCJ in lieu of bail.
Sandy Township The investigation continues after officers responded to a backyard fence that was on fire along McClane Avenue Friday. The homeowner reported seeing a neighbor spraying weeds with a propane torch, but police were unable to speak to the person. --- Treasure Lake Security reported someone broke into a storage building at the stump dump Friday, but nothing appeared to be taken. --- Officers were called to the Carmike Theater parking lot Friday for a disturbance in which a DuBois man opened a car door and struck and dented the door on the vehicle next to him. The alleged victim attempted to acquire insurance information from the other driver, an argument ensued, and police found the DuBois man was under the influence, uncooperative and agitated. Also, the other driver appeared under the influence, and following a search, a loaded gun was found, along with miscellaneous drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle. The DuBois man was taken into custody, but he stated he was having a seizure and emergency medical services was called. He was taken to DuBois Regional Medical Center for observation. --- The investigation continues after Walmart employees reported Friday that three men took an Xbox and left the store without paying. --- A DuBois woman was not injured when her vehicle struck a bear on Blinker Parkway Friday. --- The highly intoxicated woman at the Warehouse Bar Saturday was uncooperative with officers and was taken to Clearfield County Jail on a 48-hour detainer. --- Jefferson Avenue residents called 911 to report fire trucks being loud at Miller Bros. Furniture Saturday. Officers found the residents were intoxicated and a man was yelling at fire company personnel, who were hosing off the business parking lot. --- The investigation continues after a man went into Walmart Sunday and paid for an iPad with counterfeit $100 bills. --- On Sunday, a tractor-trailer struck two vehicles in the Snappy's parking lot. --- Someone removed the driver's side mirror on a Dixon Avenue woman's vehicle Sunday.
Morris-Cooper Regional A man reported ordered food at the Roadhouse Restaurant, left without paying, returned the next day and said he would take care of it. He again ordered a meal and left without paying. --- Glenn O. Hawbaker bridge crew reported someone attempted to drag a portable restroom with door removed down Main Street in Cooper Township. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 765-1533. --- The investigation continues in an incident of harassment against a Clearfield woman. --- The 911 hang-up call was from a resident who accidentally hit the send button on his phone, which was in his pocket. --- Retail theft is under investigation in which a known person was observed on video camera taking a saw from a shelf at H and B Hardware and putting it outside the back door. --- The investigation continues in an incident of retail theft when a woman removed several condoms from the boxes at Country Convenience in Morrisdale and left. --- Two juveniles operating four wheelers on the baseball fields in Morris Township were turned over to their parents. --- The investigation continues after three juveniles were turned over to their parents in Cooper Township for possession and use of marijuana.
State police at Philipsburg On Saturday, an accident occurred on U.S. Route 322 in Rush Township near Strawband Road. A deer attempted to jump over a vehicle, landing on the passenger side of the windshield and breaking it. --- A vehicle struck a parked vehicle on Mortimer Street in Philipsburg Borough June 5 and fled the scene. --- Someone came out of the woods on Miller Road in Rush Township Wednesday and used a large object to strike a Fullington Auto Bus Co. school bus. --- The investigation continues in an incident of sexual assault against a 42-year-old woman at a Port Matilda Borough residence yesterday. The known person of interest also served alcoholic beverages to a minor. --- Yesterday, a person at Skills of Pennsylvania office in Philipsburg Borough who became upset during a training session and damaged two windows was cited for criminal mischief.
