Daily Police Log Thursday, April 12, 2012 State police at Clearfield Following an all-terrain vehicle accident April 1 at 2:15 a.m. on Walnut Street in Smithmill, a Beccaria man was injured and transported to Altoona Regional Health System. --- Charges of providing alcoholic beverages to minors were filed against a known man after an 18-year-old Philipsburg man reported he provided him with beer. Later, at a preliminary hearing, the Philipsburg man explained he knowingly provided false information when he reported who provided beer to him. Charges against the other man were withdrawn and charges related to providing false reports were filed against the Philipsburg man.
Lawrence Township The investigation continues in an act of criminal mischief in which someone dumped a substance into the fuel tank of a business vehicle and ruined the engine. --- No injuries were reported in a minor single-vehicle accident on Clearfield-Shawville Highway. --- An area business reported a trespassing incident. --- The investigation continues and police have a person of interest in a series of retail thefts at an area business. Police are working with the store's loss prevention personnel to review video and determine the extent of the crime. --- Officers conducted a background investigation for the North Carolina State Police. --- Following a supplemental investigation into a previous harassment incident, police cited an individual for harassment and disorderly conduct. --- Someone contacted police in regard to pictures of a shirtless 3-year-old child, but the pictures in question, when viewed in context, were not child pornography. --- Officers checked the welfare of an area man who was on the phone with out-of-state relatives when the conversation ended abruptly. It was determined he was having trouble with his phone. --- While on patrol, police found a vehicle parked at Lawrence Township Rec Park after hours, and the owner was advised the park closes at dusk.
State police at Philipsburg Tracy L. Gross of Woodland was traveling east on Shady Dell Road in Worth Township Monday at 6:20 a.m. when her vehicle struck a deer. Neither the driver nor her passenger, Steven G. Gross of Woodland, were injured. --- On Sunday at 11:30 a.m., a Bellefonte man lost control of his motorcycle while rounding a curve on state Route 504 in Union Township, Centre County. It struck a guide rail, traveled approximately six feet and came to rest facing east along the road. The operator was thrown from the bike and came to rest opposite the impact point of the guide rail. He was wearing a helmet, suffered moderate injuries and was transported via Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services to Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. --- Following a traffic stop Monday at 8:42 p.m. at Phoenix and Dale roads in Rush Township, a Philipsburg man was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. --- In separate incidents, checks issued to Lykens Market in Port Matilda were returned due to insufficient funds. On Jan. 2, a woman reportedly issued a check for $30 and a Port Matilda woman issued a check for $17.46. --- No injuries were reported when an East Freedom man was traveling south on North Centre Street in Philipsburg Borough at an excessive speed and lost control of his vehicle. It traveled through the Railroad Street intersection, slid out of control, traveled across the road and over a curb into some traffic signs. --- On Sunday at 12:10 p.m., a 12-year-old Philipsburg boy was chased by dogs belonging to Jermaine Gardner of Philipsburg near an East Presqueisle Street apartment in Philipsburg Borough.
State police at Ebensburg Between March 17 and Saturday, someone entered an unlocked storage shed at 1315 Glendale Valley Blvd. in Reade Township. Items removed include an oak computer desk, a small set of torches, two leather motorcycle jackets and a floor jack, all valued at $680. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 471-6500.
