CRC notes facade grant deadline
Monday, May 23, 2011
The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. has announced details of the Facade Improvement Grant Program for this summer. The upcoming deadline for complete facade applications is June 24.
Main Street Manager Kellie Truman said receiving funding for this summer did not come easy to the CRC. The funds were received through the state Department of Community and Economic Development.
Truman said, "It is very unlikely in the condition of our state budget to receive additional facade improvement funds, let alone any funds from DCED.
"However, Clearfield's Main Street Program proved that we are able to turn around the funds we've been granted, meaning, that additional funds came from other Main Street communities who were not using their facade funds. It is very important that downtown businesses take advantage of the available funds now, otherwise we may have to send them back to DCED."
The CRC encourages all businesses interested in improving their storefronts to pick up an application packet immediately at the CRC office or to visit the CRC website at www.DiscoverClearfield.com and click on "design" to download the application.
All businesses that submitted a letter of intent to the CRC in April are reminded that they still need to submit a complete application to be considered.
Truman explained, "The letter of intent was a non-binding letter and its purpose was to prove there is a demand for additional facade funds from DCED. Now that we have proved our purpose, the facade program will continue as normal. We deeply thank all the businesses who helped leverage these dollars for our downtown."
