Rocker Alice Cooper a fair favorite in 2009
Thursday, December 31, 2009
Alice Cooper was anything but a nightmare for the Clearfield County Fair. The legendary rock icon brought his unique blend of horror and heavy metal to the fairgrounds on Tuesday night of the fair. During his act, Cooper met his demise on stage a number of times including being hanged, beheaded, impaled, stabbed and injected much to the delight of the near capacity crowd in the grandstand.
Fair Manager Greg Hallstrom would later tell The Progress that Cooper's show was by far the fan favorite of this year's fair.
Prior to his appearance at the fair, the rock legend and avid golfer hit the greens at the Eagles Ridge Golf Course in Curwensville and Treasure Lake in DuBois. Cooper also took the time to sign autographs and connect with several local residents before his big concert.
However, the fair had no such luck with its scheduled "High School Musical" show; it had to be cancelled when the performers were delayed and unable to make the show. It is the second year in a row that travel delays disrupted a fair act.
In 2008, the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" show was plagued by travel delays and mix-ups, which caused one chipmunk to miss the show completely.
