Judge Cherry presides at recent session of plea and sentencing court

Clearfield County Judge Paul E. Cherry presided over a session of plea and sentencing court Tuesday.
  • Penny L. Frelin, 36, Clearfield County Jail, was ordered to serve 72 hours to six months along with two years' consecutive probation on charges of driving under the influence, and altered, forged and documented plates. She was fined $1,200, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol, complete the DUI School and a full drug and alcohol assessment and immediately surrender her driver's license.
    On a summary offense of operating without certificate, she received a $35 fine and on a summary offense of tire equipment, she received a $55 fine. On a summary offense of registration and certificate of title required, she received an $85 fine and on a summary offense of violation of certificate, she received a $110 fine.
  • Holly P. Lyon, 23, 975 Park Ave., Ext. Apt 8, Clearfield, was ordered to serve 90 days to one year in CCJ along with two years' consecutive probation on charges of criminal trespass and retail theft.
    She received a $250 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol, attend counseling as recommended by her probation officer and not enter Walmart in Clearfield.
    As a result of the new criminal offense, Lyons had her probation revoked. On a charge of theft by unlawful taking, she resentenced to serve 67 days to one year in CCJ.
  • James R. Simunovich, 18, 1490 Treasure Lake, DuBois, was ordered to serve 48 hours to six months in CCJ on a charge of DUI. He received a $500 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol, complete the DUI School and a full drug and alcohol assessment and immediately surrender his driver's license. On a summary offense of driving under suspension, he received a $210 fine and on a summary offense of careless driving, he received a $35 fine.
  • Ethel E. Johnson, 424 Mann Road, Clearfield, was placed on two years' probation on a charge of retail theft. She received a $250 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances and complete the retail theft program.
  • Todd D. Hurd, 48, Lance, was ordered to serve five days to six months in CCJ on a charge of DUI. He received a $300 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol, complete the DUI School and a full drug and alcohol assessment. On a summary offense of driving on right side of roadway, he received a $35 fine.
  • Robert A. Wertz, 22, 1415 Elliot St., Williamsport, was placed on two years' probation on a charge of indecent assault. He received a $200 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, have no contact with the victim and complete the Project Point of Light Program or another sex offender program.
  • Alexandra N. Pensinger, 22, 128 Hogestown Road, Mechanisburg, was placed on one-year probation on a charge of criminal conspiracy/possession of a controlled substance. She received a $200 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol and complete drug and alcohol counseling. On a charge of disorderly conduct, she received a $100 fine.
  • Amanda L. Bossen, 27, 306 Bessemer Ave., Lyndora, was ordered to serve 30 days to one year along with two years' consecutive probation on three counts of bad checks. She received a $50 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not own or possess checks or checking accounts and pay restitution.
  • Raymond E. Dewees Jr., 46, 25749 Shawville-Frenchville Highway, Frenchville, was placed on two years' probation on a charge of firearm ownership. He received a $1,000 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances and attend counseling as recommended by his probation officer.
  • George W. Garnett, 59, 14 E. Carditt St., Ridgway, was placed on five years' probation on charges of forgery, identity theft, tampering with public records and unsworn falsification. He was fined $1,350, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances and attend counseling as recommended by his probation officer.
  • Anthony C. Halowell, 27, 58 Taylor Ave., Falls Creek, was ordered to serve 30 days to one year in CCJ along with two years' consecutive probation on access device fraud and theft by unlawful taking. He received a $300 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol and attend counseling as recommended by his probation officer. On a second case of simple assault, he was placed on two years' probation, received a $200 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, attend anger management counseling, have no contact with the victim and pay restitution.
  • Benjamin J. Hawk, 25, 213 Dixon Ave., DuBois, was ordered to serve 30 days to one year in CCJ along with two years' consecutive probation on charges of terroristic threats and simple assault. He received a $250 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol, attend counseling as recommended by his probation officer and have no contact with the victims.
  • Donald R. Hayward, 52, Princess St., Brisbin, was placed on three years' probation on a charge of criminal trespass. He received a $250 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, attend counseling as recommended by his probation officer, have no contact with the victim or enter the Lawrence Township municipal building property, and submit to DNA testing at a cost of $250.
  • George B. Lee, 59, 30 E. Main St., DuBois, was ordered to serve 90 days to one year along with two years' consecutive probation on a charge of DUI. He received a $1,500 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol, complete the DUI School along with a full drug and alcohol assessment, not enter places that serve alcohol and pay restitution. On a summary offense of operation following suspension, he received a $110 fine and on a summary offense of careless driving, he received a $35 fine.
  • Isaac E. Miller, 25, 10 Circle Road, DuBois, was placed on two years' probation on a charge of simple assault. He received a $300 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, complete mental health counseling along with any other counseling recommended, not own narcotics or prescriptions for narcotics without first getting written approval of his probation officer and complete 100 hours of community service.
  • Jerri L. Nelson, 29, 433 Quarry Ave., DuBois, was placed on one-year probation on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $200 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, complete drug and alcohol counseling and attend counseling as recommended by his probation officer.
  • Phillip L. Peters, 19, 827 Station St., Curwensville, was ordered to serve eight days to two years less one day in CCJ along with four years' consecutive probation on three counts of recklessly endangering another person.
    He received a $250 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol, attend counseling as recommended by his probation officer and have no contact with the victim.
  • Waylon J. Strange, 28, Kent, was ordered to serve four months to one year in CCJ along with two years' consecutive probation on charges of criminal mischief, terroristic threats and theft by unlawful taking. He received a $400 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol, complete anger management counseling and have no contact with the victim. On a summary offense of driving under suspension, he received a $210 fine.
  • Nicole M. Snyder, 21, 313 Margeretta St., Clearfield, was placed on one-year probation on a charge of theft by deception. She received a $200 fine, is not to own or possess checks or checking account, attend counseling as recommended by her probation officer and pay restitution.
  • Travis J. Stiner, 23, 606 Krebs Ave., Clearfield, was placed on two years' probation on charges of recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct. He received a $300 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances and complete anger management counseling.
  • Joshua W. Webb, 25, state correctional institution, was ordered to serve 12 months to three years in the Western Diagnostic Classification Center, Pittsburgh, on a charge of burglary. He received a $1 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serves alcohol, complete drug and alcohol counseling, submit to DNA testing at a cost of $250, pay restitution and have no contact with the victim.
    On a second case of theft by unlawful taking, Webb received a $1 fine and was placed on one-year probation.
    On a third case of false identification to law enforcement, Webb received a $1 fine and was placed on one-year probation.
    On a charge of drivers required to be licensed, he received a $210 fine.
  • Kelly L. McBride, 25, CCJ, was ordered to serve six months to three years in the Western Diagnostic Classification Center on a charge of theft by unlawful taking.
    He received a $1 fine, is to refrain from the use and possession of alcohol and controlled substances, not enter places that serve alcohol, have no contact with the victim and attend counseling as recommended by his probation officer.
    On charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, he received a $1 fine on each charge.
    As a result of the new charge, McBride had his probation revoked.
    On six counts of forgery, he was ordered to serve nine months to two years in the Western Diagnostic Classification Center concurrent to the first case.
    The following cases were continued:
  • Brian S. Vineyard Jr., 20, 126 Walker St., Wallaceton, charged with identity theft.
  • Jeffrey A. Ullery, 34, 208 Fleming Road, Curwensville, charged with burglary.
