Weekend Events is a weekly feature of The Progress published to alert readers about events planned by nonprofit organizations or events that benefit the community. All events are open to the public.
To have an event included, submit the information in writing to any office of The Progress by noon Tuesday. Late submissions will not be published, nor will submissions that do not include a contact person and daytime telephone number.
The Progress does not include bingo, club events that are limited to members and guests only or yard sales or flea markets by private individuals in the Weekend Events section.
The following events are planned this weekend in Progressland.
Saturday
Auction
Winburne Fire Co. will hold an auction Saturday at 6 p.m. at the firehall. There will be new items available and the kitchen will be open along with a 50/50 and rip-off tickets.
Country music
Free country music provided by local musicians will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Hickory Grange on Mountain Run Road, Sabula, DuBois.
The grange kitchen will be open.
Museum open
Come to the Clearfield County Historical Society Museum, 104 E. Pine St., Clearfield, Saturday from 1-4 p.m. to shop for the holidays in a Victorian atmosphere.
There will be 20 local history books for sale at 10 percent to 15 percent off. Tour the museum and see Clearfield County-area history artifacts and purchase memberships and Bloody Knox maple syrup for gifts.
Weather permitting, have a ride in an antique vehicle. A 1918 Model T touring car will be ready for rides around the streets of Clearfield.
Soup sale
Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a soup sale at the post Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Prices are $1.50 per bowl and $4 per quart. There will be bean, vegetable, potato and chili.
Thrift Shoppe open
Free coats, gloves, hats and two bags of clothes for $1 will be available at Emmanuel Thrift Shoppe, 1010 Dorey St., Clearfield, Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
Sunday
Breakfasts
An all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage meal will be served Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Glen Richey firehall. The cost is $5 per meal.
All proceeds benefit the upkeep of the firehall during the winter months.

An all-you-can-eat hunters' pancake and sausage breakfast will be held Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grampian firehall.
Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.
Proceeds benefit Grampian-Penn-Bloom Fire Co.

Frenchville Veterans of Foreign Wars Leigey Renaud Post No. 8386 will serve breakfast Sunday from 8-11 a.m.
The menu includes juice, coffee, pancakes and sausage. Prices are $4 for adults and $2 for children 12 and younger.
Proceeds benefit the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home and Altoona James E. Van Zandt Medical Center patients' Christmas parties.
Museum open
The Coalport Area Coal Museum, located in the Coalport community building at 916 Forest St., is open Sundays from 1-4 p.m.
The museum houses more than 350 artifacts in 17 displays, featuring the original tools, equipment, texts, photos, scale-model and full-size replicas of the coal mining heritage.
In addition, a comprehensive collection of genealogical materials from the local Glendale Valley area (including all cemetery listings and more than 4,600 indexed obituaries) is in the library/reference room.

Roast beef dinner
A roast beef dinner will be served at the Westover Volunteer Fire Co. Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until sold out.
Prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children. The meal includes roast beef, potatoes, vegetable, roll, dessert and a drink.
Eat-in or takeouts are available. For advance orders, call 743-5319.
All proceeds go to the graduation project of junior firemen Seth Westover and Donnie Oaks for rescue equipment. Also, homemade soup will be for sale.
