Trooper attends Neighborhood Watch meeting Friday, November 06, 2009 MAHAFFEY - Another Neighborhood Watch meeting was held last night at Mahaffey firehall, attended by Trooper Levier from the state police at Punxsutawney and a number of Mahaffey area citizens. The reason stated at the first meeting for forming a group is because of ongoing destruction at Scout Community Park. Last night the citizens decided to formally organize and nominate officers who will be voted on at the December meeting. They include President Dan Wright, Vice President Tom Beatty and David Long, Secretary Sally Long, Mary Jane Beatty and Ruth Beatty. The person receiving the second highest number of votes will be named the assistant secretary. Nominated for treasurer was Ruth Beatty. Meetings were changed to the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. It is possible a video will be shown at the next meeting. More people are urged to attend to be trained in helping themselves, their families, neighbors and friends.
