Former authority employee jailed on charges

Cynthia Carlson of Bigler was arrested for forgery and related charges for incidents that happened between April 17, 2008 and March 19, 2009. According to state police at Clearfield, Ms. Carlson was working for the Wallaceton-Boggs Municipal Authority part-time when she used authority funds to purchase personal items such as car repairs, home heating fuel, electric bills, and items from local retail stores. Ms. Carlson forged authority members' signatures to make the purchases.
She also used an authority credit card to purchase fuel for her personal vehicle. The amount taken is approximately $11,500.
Ms. Carlson was arraigned before Magisterial District Justice Michael Rudella on 20 counts of forgery, 28 counts of access device fraud, 62 counts of theft by unlawful taking, and 62 counts of receiving stolen property.
She was placed in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for July 1.
