By Jon Christoff Sports Writer
A handful of local athletes are participating in sports at several colleges this fall. Here's a look at what some of those individuals are accomplishing.

Wrestling
Kyle Keane, Pitt-Johnstown: With the wrestling season approaching, Keane has been tabbed as the nation's top ranked 165-pounder in Division II. Keane, who was an All-American last season, finished his sophomore campaign with a 38-6 record en route to a fourth-place finish at nationals. The Mountain Cat team is ranked third in the preseason poll.

Men's Basketball
Mark Marino, Lycoming: Marino, a 1997 Curwensville graduate, has been named an assistant basketball coach at Lycoming College. Marino was a guard for the Golden Tide's District 9 championship winning team, and went on to coach at Francis Scott Key in Maryland upon graduating from Lock Haven University. Marino was the head coach at Warrior Run (Pa.) last season.

Football
Andrew Janocko, Pittsburgh: Janocko held for two extra points and two field goals in the Panthers' 26-21 upset of 10th ranked South Florida on Oct 2. Pitt had a bye last weekend and will travel to Annapolis, Md. to face Navy on Saturday.
Tanner Kelly, Albright: The former Bison signal caller has continued to thrive in the Albright offense and has led his team to a 3-2 mark. Kelly completed a season-high 19 passes for a season-low 136 yards in a win over Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham on Oct. 4, and followed it up with 33 completions for 274 yards and two TDs in a loss at Lycoming last weekend.
For the season, Kelly has 948 passing yards to go with eight touchdowns and is averaging 35.1 yards on 21 punts.
Mike Rocco, Lock Haven: The Mountie graduate has played in four games for Lock Haven and has made a pair of solo tackles. The Eagles are currently 0-7 after suffering a 56-3 setback at the hands of No. 8 California (Pa.).
Beau Ryan, Juniata: Ryan has five solo tackles and four assists for Juniata this season. The Eagles are 1-5 on the season after picking up their first Centennial Conference win on Oct. 4.
Nate Sipes, Slippery Rock: After falling in a double-overtime loss to No. 19 IUP, Sipes was one of four Curwensville alums competing in the Slippery Rock-Clarion matchup last Saturday. Sipes has 15 tackles with 10 being solo for The Rock, which handled the Eagles 49-14.
Nick Sipes, Clarion: Even though his squad was on the short end of a 35-point loss to Slippery Rock, Sipes made some big plays for Clarion. Sipes blocked a punt and had three carries for nine yards and a reception for five. Sipes is the second leading rusher for the Golden Eagles, as he's tallied 231 yards on 41 carries. The Clarion fullback has also hauled in eight passes for 44 yards.
J.D. Skebo, Slippery Rock: After seeing his first action against Mercyhurst, Skebo saw his first significant action in last weekend's win over Clarion. Skebo is on Slippery Rock's extra point team and has seen action at guard. The Rock improved to 4-3 with the win.
Shawn Sopic, Clarion: Sopic had a big game in Clarion's loss to The Rock, as he racked up 10 tackles.
The Eagle sophomore is third on the squad with 42 tackles and is tops in solo stops with 25. Sopic has two interceptions on the season and forced a fumble for Clarion, which is 1-6.
Gary Walstrom Jr., Valley Forge: Walstrom continues to start for the Trojans at linebacker. After opening with three-straight wins, Valley Forge has dropped its last two contests.

Volleyball
