But a game full of frustration ended in heartbreak when Carrie Harbold was thrown out at third base after Clearfield had rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh, giving the Lady Red Raiders a 7-6 win.

The Lady Bisons trailed 7-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh and already had one out when the bats came alive.

Alanna Luzier doubled to get things started with Megan Butler beating out an infield single to put runners on the corners. Ashley Lias followed with a base hit to knock in Luzier, making the score 7-4.

Bellefonte chose to intentionally walk Mandy Rowles to load the bases, bringing the winning run to the plate in the form of Julie Colesar, who already had two hits on the day.

"They did the smart thing," Clearfield head coach Bob Dixon said. "You don't want to give Mandy the chance to tie the ball game."

Colesar came through with her third hit of the day, scoring Butler to pull the Lady Bisons to within two runs of the lead.

With the bases still loaded, Alyssa Anderson hit a sacrifice fly to center field that plated Lias, but Bellefonte catcher Meranda Poorman gunned down Harbold trying to move from second to third when the initial throw from the outfield went home.

"I saw the throw going home and I know Harbold can run," Dixon said. "But she didn't get a good jump, and I was still trying to bring her over. That was my fault. I should have left her there.

"The kids fought. I feel like I let them down. But maybe we shouldn't have gotten in that position in the first place. We played kind of shabby there for awhile."

Bellefonte scored the first run of the contest in the top of the second inning on a Brittany Rockey home run, but the Lady Bisons answered with three in the bottom of the frame.

Luzier hit a bases-loaded single that scored Anderson and Suzie Colesar, and ended up on third when the center fielder misplayed the ball. Sarah Kovalick also crossed the plate on the error.

The Lady Raiders scored an unearned run in the third and tacked on four more unearned runs in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead.

"Everything we did, we were a step behind today," Dixon said. "We would get an out and then make an error and then we would compound it and they would score some runs."

The big blow in the Lady Raider fourth was a three-run bomb off the bat of Danielle Gomola.

"They have a good team," Dixon said. "They have a little more power than I thought they did. Gomola had a nice shot. We were trying to go up and inside on her and I think we got it a little too far out over the plate, and she smacked it."

Bellefonte added one more unearned run in the sixth.

Lady Bison pitcher Rowles surrendered seven runs, but only one was earned. She struck out nine batters and walked two.

Julie Colesar led the Lady Bison 10-hit attack with three. Luzier and Lias each had two.

"The girls hit well," Dixon said. "Julie Colesar and Ashley Lias hit very well today. So did Alanna."

Clearfield fell to 8-4 with the loss. The Lady Bisons are back in action today, playing host to Brookville.
