PUBLIC NOTICE

Pursuant to the Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act, the PA Clean Streams Law, and the Bituminous Mine Subsidence and Land Conservation Act as amended, notice is hereby given that RES Coal LLC, 51 Airport Road, Clearfield, PA 16830, has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for renewing its existing coal preparation plant permit, existing GP-12 air quality permit, and the related NPDES permit for the Clearfield Siding Operation. The current permit #17851501 was issued on 2/21/86 and will expire on 2/21/21. This renewal does not contain revisions to the existing operation.

The 50.4-acre operation is located in Boggs Township, Clearfield County. The boundary of the operation lies between Clearfield Creek and T-315 (Long Run Road), just northeast of the intersection of T-316 (Third Level Road) and T-315 (Long Run Road) on the lands of RES Coal LLC and Donald and Nancy Smeal as shown on the Glen Richey, PA, U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-Minute Quadrangle map. Treated wastewater from this operation will be discharged to Clearfield Creek and Long Run.

The application, plans and other data concerning this operation are available for public inspection by appointment only at the Clearfield County Conservation District, 6395 Clearfield Woodland Highway, Suite 2, Clearfield, PA 16830.

Written comments, objections, or a request for a public hearing or informal conference may be to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Moshannon District Office, 186 Enterprise Drive, Philipsburg, PA 16866 within 30 days of the final (4th) publication of this notice and must include the person’s name, address, telephone number and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s).
