PUBLIC NOTICE

Pursuant to the Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act, the Clean Streams Law, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, notice is hereby given that RES Coal LLC, 51 Airport Road, Clearfield, PA 16830 has made application to the Bureau of District Mining Operations, 186 Enterprise Drive, Philipsburg, PA 16866, to renew its existing surface coal mine permit and the related NPDES permit. The current permit, #17120101, was issued on April 16, 2013 and will expire on April 16, 2021. RES Coal, LLC proposes to continue to surface mine bituminous coal, conduct blasting activities, and discharge treated water to unnamed tributaries to West Branch Susquehanna River. The 55.0 acre permit is located in Lumber City Borough, Clearfield County as shown on the U.S.G.S. 7 1/2' Curwensville quadrangle map. The existing permit is situated on the property of Gregory E. Hipps, north and west of SR 969 and east and south of Kirk Street. A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Clearfield County Conservation District, 511 Spruce Street, Suite 6, Clearfield, PA 16830. Written comments, objections, or a request for public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the Bureau of District Mining Operations, 186 Enterprise Drive, Philipsburg, PA 16866 within 30 days following the date of the last (4th) publication date of this notice and must include the person's name, address, telephone number, and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s).
